Commis Chef apprentice, Ruby, is through to the final of the UNOX Combi Guru Challenge competition! 🎉 Ruby will be heading to Venice on a trip of a lifetime to compete against 39 other colleges, experience a tour of Venice and surrounding islands, and enjoy a very special lunch at a fine dining restaurant. Ruby has also successfully made it through to the Grand Finals of the Nestlé Professional Toque d'Or competition following action packed heats held at The Grand Hotel, York. Out of 400 initial entries, she's now one of the last 12 contestants! The Grand Finals will be held in May, where Ruby will participate in educational activities and compete for a chance to win a trip to Italy. Cameron recently had the amazing opportunity to compete at Westminster College, London, in the BASC Game On Canape competition! 🏆The challenge? Cook 5 portions of a canapé using partridge. Cameron used his culinary skills and creativity to make a soft centre Scotch quail egg with partridge meat. Cameron shared: “It was good to see the other colleges and how they work with food. The competition has given me more knowledge regarding wild food and game. Doing the competition has benefited me by giving me more confidence to take into future competitions.” Congratulations Cameron, we are so proud of your achievement! 🎉 #EastRidingCollege #hospitality
