We’re thrilled to announce that the Pacific Grebe has set sail for sailing trials, equipped with the innovative Smart Green Shipping FastRig wind-assisted propulsion system. This marks a significant step forward in the development of the FastRig technology that aims to optimise maritime efficiency and sustainability. The sea trials will be crucial in validating performance and engineering solutions in real-world conditions and builds upon the past 4 months of testing on land at Hunterston. It has been a huge achievement by Smart Green Shipping, for whom Humphreys Yacht Design are the principal naval architects and developers of the FastRig concept, and the many other project partners within the team to reach this milestone. #windpropulsion #innovation #sustainableshipping #windpower

At HYD, our story is about more than history - it’s a legacy of experience and innovation. This is what gives us the expertise to blend tradition with forward-thinking design, just like the Arksen 85. A remarkable aluminium explorer yacht that combines resilience with comfort and sustainability, and as such is truly reflective of our own journey over the past five decades. We’re delighted to be featured in BOAT International Media, where the Arksen 85 is celebrated for its ability to adapt to a changing world. As the article notes, “Arksen is not just about yachts; it’s about creating vessels that stand the test of time.” And we couldn’t agree more; as when it comes to our own approach - every project factors in our 50 years experience whilst simultaneously paving the way for the future. Read the full article here and discover how heritage and sustainability come together in this groundbreaking design. https://lnkd.in/e_Uzq-FU

'The autonomy of a Tesla, the robustness of a Caterpillar, the elegance of a Rolls, the spine of a high-altitude K2 mountaineer, and the romance and silence of a free diver — wrapped in an engineering envelope that delivers efficiency, range, and potential.' Now that's what we call a creative brief! We thoroughly enjoyed this CEO Series article from BOAT International Media after they sat down with Arksen CEO Jasper Smith following the delivery of the Arksen 85. Standby for updates on hull number two coming soon... #exploreryacht #humphreysyachtdesign #arksen https://buff.ly/3LnBGp1

After 50 years we have grown and retained many trusted relationships that we value greatly, and have on more than one occasion been referred to as a safe pair of hands when it comes to naval architecture and design that delivers performance, efficiency and style. Our long standing relationships with Oyster Yachts and #Elan and our latest series of collaborations with Arksen are partnerships we are immensely proud of and enjoy enormously. We can't wait to see what the future holds. Be sure to see how Rob and Tom got on when they visited one of their most recent projects - the Arksen 85 - the full film is on our YouTube channel https://buff.ly/3RTzc5j

If this film doesn't make you want to pack up and set sail around the world for 16 months we're fairly sure nothing will. Demand for the Oyster World Rally is such that entries for the 2028-29 season opened this June. An incredible opportunity for those looking for adventure; if you want to be one of the 30 Oysters anchoring in spots as remote and unspoiled as the Marquesas Islands, the Cocos Islands and Fernando de Noronha, make sure you get your application in quick smart (and be sure you send us your pics!). https://buff.ly/4eLnmEc #oysteryachts #oysterworldrally #bluewatercrusing #humphreysyachtdesign #circumnavigation

Has everyone recovered from a very breezy RTI? This year saw some pretty exciting action but it was ultimately a great day for Richard Hutchings in his Oyster Yachts 595 XOXO, who was the 1st ISCRS boat to finish, winning the Silver Gilt Roman Bowl & Salver as well as winning the class. A fantastic days racing and so wonderful to see so many HYD boats taking part this year. Well done to all competitors!

Huge success for Oyster 595 XoXo at the Round the Island Race. Battling tough conditions of Force 9 gusts and 3-metre high waves, owner-skippered XoXo topped the ISCRS group, beating out over 400 yachts to the top of the podium with an overall elapsed time of 06:57:49, over 10 minutes faster than their closest competitors and clocking the fastest time recorded in the ISCRS category in the last 10 years. The honours don't stop there, the team were also awarded First Over the Line, and after competing against 29 yachts in Division 4A and 71 yachts in Group 4, they claimed the top spot in both categories. XoXo demonstrated highly impressive speeds for a yacht which has been built, commissioned and fully equipped with amenities to sail around the world in the Oyster World Rally 2026-27. This first-place finish marks the third consecutive podium result for an Oyster taking part in the race, after 495-01 Carpe Diem won the ISCRS Group 4 in 2022 and 595 XoXo taking 3rd in Division 4A in 2023. The annual Round the Island Race is one of the largest sailing races in the world, with participants beginning in Cowes and racing westerly around the Isle of Wight, taking in the sights of The Needles, St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge before finishing in East Cowes, totalling 50 nautical miles. Congratulations to the whole crew - a fantastic result and achievement. Professional image credit to Paul Wyeth. #OysterYachts #RTIR

Off-grid exploration without compromise. Earlier this year Rob and Tom went to check out Arksens Project Pelagos and spent a couple of hours reflecting on a project that has come to represent so much of the Humphreys innovative approach to naval architecture and design. Doing something a bit different and new always makes our ears prick up. In this quick film Rob & Tom discuss the challenges around creating a go-anywhere yacht that is comfortable and safe whilst still being incredibly efficient. You can see the full interview on our YouTube channel. https://buff.ly/4bR82Dx #arksen #arksen85 #humphreysyachtdesign #exploreryacht #goanywhereyacht
