  • One of the best decisions we've made in 2024 was to back Kier Kemp & Jennifer Dreier, co-founders of Condimaniac. Max Tracey & I had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon down at the new Condimaniac HQ in Chatham followed by lunch to chat 2024 and exciting opportunities for the brand in the years ahead. Kier & Jen have built a brand which is dedicated to its community of condiment obsessives. Rather than post a full video of the amazing mural wall by Luke Fairhead which pays homage to a handful of Condimaniacs award winning products and runs the length of the new HQ, instead here is the original label artwork which inspired Luke's design and should inspire you to buy a few!!! Plus a couple of my personal favourite products as a recommendation! For the full mural reveal, like & follow Kier's upcoming posts on Tik Tok, Instagram & Facebook! I’ll post in comments.

  • This morning we announced the sale of The Business Magazine Group Limited to Newsco Insider Limited, the publisher of Insider Magazine and a subsidiary of National World Plc. Hurtwood Capital acquired The Business Magazine operations in February 2021 after it had been impacted by COVID (remember work from home, social distancing, etc?). Our only motive was to ensure this much loved regional business title got back on its feet, invest and help it pursue its purpose of being the champion of regional business, getting people togther to meet and tell the stories that deserve to be told of their initiaitves and success. With the help of an amazing team of people at The Business Magazine led by Richard Thompson, the brand was refreshed, a website completely redesigned and rebuilt, a magazine returned to circulation, events reimagined and delivered, ranking products elevated, new products launched, content given purpose, capabilities in video & animation added and geography extended. Small metric: Feb ‘21-Nov ’24 The Business Magazine’s Linkedin followers grew organically (unpaid) from 1,700 to 21,450. That reflects the quality of the content produced, events hosted and the combined efforts of a dedicated team. As The Business Magazine celebrates its 30th year in print, Hurtwood Capital hand over the reins of a far better business in 2024 than that acquired in 2021, with a dedicated team pursuing a noble purpose. The Business Magazine is a perfect fit with Insider and I am confident this transaction will serve colleagues and clients well. I am reassured by the profressionalism I saw from the National World Plc team throughout Mark Hollinshead Sheree Manning Claire Jackson We wish The Business Magazine, Insider and National World every success in the future. The Business Magazine Team Richard Thompson, Linda Goodman, Stephen Emerson, Jo Whittle, Alan Lindstrom, Peter Laurie, Keith Thomas, Nicky Godding, Steve Banbury and Scott Whittle to name but a few (present and past). If you are not named, no offence is meant. Finally, thank you to our legal team at SA Law St Albans & London : Vincent Billings Tahmid Majeed Kiran Afsar who were brilliant (again).

  • We are excited to announce our equity investment in Condimaniac, a UK food brand based in Kent which produces incredibly delicious sauces and seasonings. When we met husband & wife co-founders Kier Kemp & Jennifer Dreier we were inspired by their commitment to building a brand that was dedicated to making delicious condiments and developing a community where those obsessed 'Condimaniacs' could gather. There is so much which thrills us about this investment and I encourage you to check out https://lnkd.in/eMqigUuE and explore the product range for yourself - we recommend All The Ranch, The Good Bagel and German Style Curry Ketchup. You can also follow the brand and the journey by searching Condimaniac on Instagram or https://lnkd.in/e7wumUxQ

Musician & entrepreneur. I build cult brands.

Huge news! Condimaniac have taken on our first ever investor in Hurtwood Capital 🤯 Hurtwood Capital is the family office of Peter Tracey and his family. They just got it. They got what we are about and what we are building. Which to me is still mad to think as we’re not exactly your conventional proposition 😂 But we’re very glad they did! From building a cult movement, a community and being eCommerce first, they’re on the same page and we couldn’t hope for a better partner. I won’t do any more gloating. But needless to say, we’re very exited 🤘

  • Delighted to support Richard Rowe & Catherine Rowe and the Tandem Media. A great team and a wonderful business on an exciting growth journey. https://lnkd.in/dGmthc68

We founded Tandem Media 8 years ago with a clear purpose, to provide independent publishers with bespoke support packages to help them maximise the overall revenue and content potential of their platforms. The last 12 months have been incredibly exciting, and today we have a growing team of committed professionals working with 12 independent publishers delivering services from Ad Sales support to full Editorial and Publishing support. As we plan for our future growth, we are delighted to welcome Hurtwood Capital as a minority equity investor in Tandem Media. Hurtwood Capital is a single-family office with a long-term investment horizon and interests across Real Estate, Private Equity and Capital Markets. Their experience, insights and long-term investment horizon will enable us to invest ahead of growth as we accelerate our plans to develop Tandem Media into the leading Full-Service Publishing Agency. Peter Tracey, Director of Hurtwood Capital said “We are delighted to support Richard & Catherine and the whole Tandem team. Over the years we have been impressed with their focus on delighting customers, adding value and forging long term partnerships for success. We were excited by their long term growth plan and found it aligned perfectly with our own investment criteria.” Both Catherine Rowe and myself would like to thank Peter and Hurtwood Captial for their support and we very much look forward to growing Tandem Media together.
