Kathmandu, Nepal – The International Conference on Inclusive Insurance (ICII) brought together global leaders, experts, and practitioners in microinsurance, creating a vital platform for stakeholders to discuss and present innovative models for inclusive insurance. On 23 October 2024, a key panel session titled "The business case for cooperative and mutual models in inclusive insurance" was co-hosted by UNDP’s Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF) and The ICMIF Foundation. It highlighted the critical role of cooperative and mutual microinsurance models in advancing financial protection for underserved communities across Asia and Africa. Moderated by Diana Almoro (Regional Lead for Asia-Pacific at UNDP IRFF), the discussion included insights from IIC project partners: Zachary Wambugu from CIC Insurance Company in Kenya, JUN JAY PEREZ from MiMAP in the Philippines, and Dan De Silva from SANASA Life Insurance Co.
