Co-operators celebrates women in farming as a proud sponsor of the Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference. The AWC connects women who are passionate about agriculture and food, providing them with an opportunity to network – and invest in one another – as they work to improve their family life, community, career and industry. On March 16-18, attendees can take part in mentoring, learn about financial management and independence, develop career planning, and much more. Co-operators has proudly sponsored the event for over a decade. This embodies the values that we’ve held since we were founded in 1945, when a group of farmers joined together to create insurance solutions for their unique needs. We’re blowing out 80 birthday candles today🥳! 80 years ago, a small group of farmers in Saskatchewan had a vision to build a cooperative insurer that put Canadians’ needs first. And today, we have grown into one of Canada’s leading insurance and financial services providers, driven by our purpose to provide financial security for Canadians and our communities. And fittingly, this big birthday also falls in the ‘International Year of Cooperatives', a global recognition of the role cooperatives play in promoting sustainable development. As we celebrate 80 years of building a better world, together, we reflect on our journey of giving back, supporting local initiatives, driving positive change, and what it really means to be part of the cooperative sector. Here’s to another 80! 🎉 #80YearsofImpact #ProudlyCanadian

What’s an ice dam? After heavy snow and fluctuating temperatures, warm air from inside your home can escape through your attic or top floor, melting the snow on your roof. The meltwater runs down to your eaves where the surface temperature is colder. There it pools and refreezes, creating a barrier that prevents drainage. Wondering how to tell if you have an #icedam, and what you can do about it?⬇️

Happy #InternationalWomensDay (IWD) 💜! This year, the IWD theme is “Accelerate Action” and our partner The Prosperity Project not only understands the need to accelerate action for women’s equality but also actively supports those efforts. Julie Savard-Shaw is the Executive Director of The Prosperity Project (TPP), founded in 2020 to mitigate impact on Canadian women who were being disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Julie believes that “Accelerate Action” emphasizes that although progress has been made, there is still an urgency for governments and organizations to step up. We have significant work ahead to ensure women in Canada have equal opportunities to advance, lead, and thrive in their careers. Today, TPP is focused on identifying and addressing long-standing structural and societal barriers that the pandemic heightened. To learn more about TPP, visit: https://lnkd.in/e7jRdCf

March is #FraudPreventionMonth. Insurance fraud costs us all - well over $1 billion a year in increased premiums, adding additional strain to our health care and legal systems. From fake claims and altered documentation, to identity and underwriting misrepresentation, Co-operators has dedicated resources to promptly investigate suspected fraud. If you have reasonable grounds to suspect insurance fraud, you can report it to us, our partners Équité Association, CLHIA. https://lnkd.in/et6HWcUa

March break is right around the corner, and whether you're travelling or couch potato-ing, we hope you have an opportunity to rest. If you’re going on a trip, here are some things to consider: 🔒 Auto theft is on the rise at airports. Consider getting a ride to the airport. If you must park at the airport, consider using a wheel lock. 🤳Don’t post pictures until you’ve returned. While live updates are fun, they also let people know that your home is unattended. 💡Set your lights on automatic timer. ☀️Remember to pack lots of sunscreen. #MarchBreak #SafetyTips #AutoTheft

Throughout #BlackHistoryMonth, we are looking inward to celebrate the incredible #BlackLeaders who help to guide and empower the work we do. Leaders like Nicole Waldron, who has been serving on our Board of Directors for nearly four years. Nicole is also a social advocate, author, speaker, event specialist and host of her own podcast “Victory Speaks”. Nicole understands and emphasizes the importance of empowering others while being in a position of leadership and embracing each other for exactly who we are. In all the work she does, Nicole prioritizes creating spaces that let racialized people know that their voices and presence matter. We’re grateful for Nicole’s leadership, as she serves as a champion for us all.
