🎉 Welcome to the newest members of Immaterial team, Anthony and Yang! Anthony Ortega graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BEng in Chemical Engineering, before continuing with an MPhil at the University of Cambridge. At Immaterial, Anthony will be using process modelling techniques to develop adsorption systems used for carbon capture. Yangyanbing Liao is a Chemical Engineering PhD candidate at the Centre for Process Integration, University of Manchester. His expertise is mathematical modelling, process simulation and optimisation, with a focus on advancing the robustness and efficiency of dynamic gas adsorption process simulation. At Immaterial, Yangyanbing works on developing rigorous simulation and optimisation of adsorption processes to support the design of adsorbent materials and the scale-up of plants through combination of computational and experimental data. 👏 Congratulations and welcome aboard Anthony and Yang! We look forward to all the great contributions they will make to our team!

🎉 Our team is growing! We are extremely excited to have Dan and Giorgos join the Immaterial family. Daniel Swallow holds a chemistry PhD from the University of Nottingham and has over 27 years’ experience in technical and commercial roles. Dan has worked for both large companies and start-ups but always in the field of emissions abatement and sustainable energy technologies. His roles have always centred on building long term business partnerships. Giorgos Karaglanis, our Operations Manager, brings over 15 years of experience in industrial chemical and food manufacturing plants. He has a strong background in developing and executing business improvement strategies, effectively managing change, and driving exceptional business performance through sustained cultural transformation. Holding a Diploma in Chemical Engineering and a MSc in Environmental Engineering, Giorgos specializes in Operational Excellence and holds a Black Belt L6S in Continuous Improvement. His past roles include positions at Hellenic Petroleum, AkzoNobel, and British Sugar. 👏 We look forward to all the great contributions they will make to our team. Welcome aboard Dan and Giorgos!

🎉 Proud of our - female - scientists! We’re excited to announce that Ceren Çamur, our Lead Scientist, will be delivering a keynote lecture at the Young MOF Meeting 2024, taking place from 24th to 26th September in Cambridge. 👩🔬 Ceren leads all our wet-lab R&D activities at Immaterial. Before joining us, she was a Research Associate in the Adsorption & Advanced Material Laboratory (AAML) at the University of Cambridge and a College Research Associate at St John's College, Cambridge. Ceren completed her PhD in Materials Science at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2019, where she developed innovative synthesis processes for producing MOF powders at a multi-kilogram scale through the spray-drying method. Her work, conducted under a Horizon 2020 project, was done in collaboration with AxelOne in Lyon, France. With over 9 years of experience in MOF synthesis and industrial production, Ceren’s research has been widely recognised, amassing over 1,680 citations and an h-index of 12. 🚀 We’re excited to welcome three new members to the Immaterial team! Denise D. joins us as our new HR Manager, bringing over 20 years of HR expertise and CIPD qualifications. With experience across industries such as diagnostic testing and food manufacturing, Denise has excelled in ISO-certified environments and multi-site business operations. Her deep knowledge of HR and Health & Safety in manufacturing makes her an invaluable partner to our senior leadership team as we drive forward with our growth plans. Peter Logsdon steps into the role of Finance Director with a robust background in finance and commercial leadership. A chemical engineering graduate with a foundation built at PwC and BDO Corporate Finance, Peter has more than two decades of experience leading finance teams in high-growth international businesses. His expertise spans M&A, joint ventures, product development, and exit strategies across the energy, telecoms, and manufacturing sectors. Thomas Baggott, our new Senior Process Engineer, is a Chemical Engineer with an MEng from the University of Birmingham. With over five years of industrial experience in the oil and gas sector, he has taken on pre-commissioning and commissioning roles for major steam cracker projects across the Middle East and Asia.
