It was a pleasure to see our co-CEO Victoria Miles join this illustrious panel of insurers to discuss investing in #RealAssets for #Impact at the Insurance Asset Risk conference today. And a greater pleasure still was to find everyone energised and engaged to talk about #EmergingMarkets. Some key takeaways ✔ Huge opportunity sets for real assets to deliver impact ✔ Social element to infrastructure is important, it isn't all about climate ✔ Standardisation is needed to support growth in the blended finance areas ✔ ESG and Impact are NOT the same. ✔ Impact is complex and multiple data points should be used for investment decisions, rather than create a desperate search for one number to define impact (just like any regular investment...) ✔ Variability across taxonomies and reporting requirements a challenge ✔ Let's keep up the energy and urgency to address these challenges and not get distracted Bianca Hanscombe, Danielle Brassel, Paul Flavier, Rachel Delhaise Thanks also so Legal & General Capital Lewis Blissett Alex Wharton for the opportunity

Have you ever heard investors say..."Oh we don't really invest in EM...it's considered too risky"? Demonstrating the resilience of Emerging Markets remains a vital part of the education process to encourage investors to understand and embrace the opportunities. Thanks then to IFC - International Finance Corporation and the GEMs database consortium for producing excellent reports to support this endeavour. Headlines from these latest reports: ➡ Default rates remain very low ➡Recovery rates are exceptionally high ➡Default rates have been lower in EM vs DM during crises ➡Developing countries need $4tr of ANNUAL investment to achieve the UN SDGs by 2030 ➡$2.8 trillion of ANNUAL clean energy investment by next decade Anyone else see an opportunity gap? #SustainableInvestments #EmergingMarkets #ResilientInfrastructure http://wrld.bg/f0lT50TLK5A

Congratulations, and thank you, to Investment & Pensions Europe (IPE) for using your platform to highlight the growing importance of investing into #EmergingMarkets as theme for sophisticated investors. It can be challenging to push against the consensus of investor preferences for Developed Markets, so the more voices to add to this topic, the better. The biggest concern by investors is their perception of risk versus the opportunity. But as this article explores, there are ways to break this down and highlights some of the structural protections in place for investors. Time to look again, perhaps? 🔎 ImpactA Global Legal & General Capital Victoria Miles, Isabella da Costa Mendes, Susan Ward, Audrey Caulliez-Louis, Hannah Gore-Randall https://lnkd.in/eURydVgf

Our Co-CEO and CIO, Victoria Miles participated in a panel last week hosted by New Energy Events LLC as part of #CARIF2024 discussing 'Ramping Up Financing for Caribbean Infrastructure' 🏞 The conversations centred on the challenges of infrastructure financing in a region where needs are rising as climate challenges grow (over 70% of Caribbean Infrastructure is coastal), but where implementation costs remain high, and few sovereigns remain Investment Grade rated. ➡ As a result only 20% of planned projects reach the implementation phase. The panel discussed the new players within the infrastructure financing space in the Caribbean, plans for aggregation vehicles to streamline the procurement and financing process for small island states and the increasing acceptance of project financing structures. Thrilled to join Adam Carter(CIBC), Brian Whitesides (DFC) and Ramon Candia (CIFI), together with Adam G. from AG&T and Dustin Delany from Dentons. 📣 Also special shout out to Michelle A. Ottey at IFC - International Finance Corporation, the The World Bank and their teams in Jamaica for the pioneering work they are doing in #Jamaica and beyond in advancing the launch of PPP structures for essential infrastructure financing. #Caribbean #ResilientInfrastructure #SustainableInvesting

We are delighted to share that during the Concordia Annual Summit in New York, Prosper Africa announced that ImpactA Global has been awarded a catalytic capital investment. This is critical to support the growth of our strategy; to drive financing of resilient, sustainable infrastructure for the underserved Emerging Market regions, including Africa. We are excited to work with such an incredible partner, leveraging the power and influence of the US Government to mobilise more private capital into this compelling and critical investment opportunity. 🔔 It is a HUGE week this week with #ClimateWeekNYC, UN General Assembly and so many side events occurring. We're delighted to be involved in so many of them. 🤝 The Partners will be joining the great and the good of senior leaders from Nation States, Corporates and Finance as we come together to debate the pressing global issues. 🌎 We expect to see more conversations (and action) around public and private capital coming together to mobilise capital at scale towards Emerging Markets. 🚨 Now is the time for change. Investors must set aside outdated perceptions of risk and look at both the opportunities and the need for resilient infrastructure in Emerging Markets to support the future of this planet and our people. 📣 Please get in contact if you want to find us in the city. We've noted below just a few of the venues where we are speaking and attending. ⏲ Most excited about the Concordia Summit where we will be sharing a stage with Prosper Africa - if you can't be there in person do watch us live tomorrow at 15.40 EST (link in the comments below)... #EmergingMarkets #SustainableInvesting #ResilisentInfrastructure
