We are pleased to share that #InfraNEDs has been awarded the Silver Prize for the Best Networking Group at the Best Business Women Awards last week (October 2024)! Humbling that the hard work and initiative to fill a gap that co-founders Julia Gregory (FCIHT) and Patricia Rodrigues Jenner Ph.D.🌏 found globally in the networking space to empower and connect women NEDs in the real assets sectors has been rewarded in such a way. More than anything this is an award to the 200+ leading women NEDs globally who have joined together to make our supportive and empowering network possible. Thanks to you all. Leading network supporting & empowering women board directors in infrastructure, real estate, construction & engineering
About us
First (and currently unique!) global network for experienced women non-executive board directors ("NEDs") and their allies in real assets. InfraNEDs aims at connecting boards with experienced women NEDs who sit on Real Assets company boards (including infrastructure, real estate, construction, engineering, development). We bring together real assets sector expertise, current market intelligence with opportunities to learn and broaden professional networks to support our NEDs’ professional growth, learning and development. We seek to contribute to industry advocacy, improve governance, and optimize the allocation of resources to key investment projects in Real Assets. InfraNEDs thrives on a simple yet important mission: to empower and amplify the impact of sector experienced women inside boardrooms, committees, the C-suite, and the Real Assets industry overall. We strive to ensure that the skills our women NEDs bring to the board are enhanced and future-proof to meet the needs of the Real Assets businesses they govern. InfraNEDs are the network that nurtures talented women non-executive board directors and their allies and provides the Real Assets specialist expertise for boards.

As Chapter Zero UK Fellow, Patricia Rodrigues Jenner Ph.D.🌏 points out in her article published this week as part of Chapter Zero's FT Campaign on #climateaction that, whatever the threat – short, medium or long term – we have scientists to help guide boards. The voice of the research community does not always seem to being heard in the right places. That is where boards and Chairs have a role to play. They must seek out and promote good, independent, peer-reviewed science, act upon facts through strategic reviews and long-term planning including relevant scenario analysis and consider "What should Boards worry about?"... And meanwhile challenge cognitive hacking, misinformation based on vested interests, old thinking, convenience and habits... You can read the full article here: https://bit.ly/3z7uL0F

Last week, Patricia Rodrigues Jenner Ph.D.🌏, GLIL Infrastructure and #InfraNEDs participated in the insightful and inaugural #infrastructure #sustainability event hosted by the generous and supportive Global Infrastructure Investor Association (GIIA) and UBS teams. Alongside the knowledgeable Luis Strengari and Declan O'Brien, Patricia Rodrigues Jenner Ph.D.🌏 contributed to the GIIA conference’s opening panel on #emergingtech developments for Infrastructure sustainability (often referred to as “tough tech” or “hard tech”, it really is hard!) and its potential to contribute to the overall pathway to #netzero by 2030, 2035, 2050... Kirsten Menezes moderated the panel astutely, and we highlighted keys to success as well as the significant ecosystem gap there currently is in financing the scale up to essential technologies for #netzero, #FOAK, FOAK to #NOAK. Also raised was the increased need for #collaboration amongst venture capital, growth equity, scientists and engineers, industrial operators, infra investors in order to blend capital to generate risk and returns acceptable across the spectrum and grow the diverse solutions for sustainable infrastructure. All of these things are required, in addition to the tripling of efforts with existing, proven technologies and everybody focusing on #energyefficiency. The #greenwashing discussion panel was particularly insightful as moderated by Kristy Duane, outlining real life examples and where perception can be deemed reality! #InfraNEDs is on a mission to increase informed diversity to real assets company Boards, in particular in #Infrastructure, #energytransition and #RealEstate (overall #realassets) where our values are so relevant across a wide range of stakeholders that these businesses concern. Last week, Patricia Rodrigues Jenner Ph.D.🌏 and #InfraNEDs contributed and participated in the fantastic and inaugural infrastructure women event discussing #transitioninvestment, hosted by the fabulous team of Partners Group led by Esther Peiner, Joanna Asfour, Hemini Mistry, CAIA and Albane MEYNARD. It's still very unusual in #infrastructure, #transition and #investment to only be surrounded by female faces, but this has proven not mission impossible, on the contrary, and despite the #authoritygap out there... as fellow NED Baiba Rubesa flagged it, women's networks have been and remain important at all levels. And was great to hear Evy Glørstad‘s innovations for the brown-to-green transition to effect. #InfraNEDs is on a mission to increase informed diversity to real assets company Boards, in particular in #Infrastructure, #energytransition and #RealEstate where our values are so relevant across a wide range of stakeholders that these businesses and sectors concern. Earlier this week, Partners Group hosted its inaugural Women In Infrastructure event – a series of panel discussions exploring some of the challenges, opportunities, and new initiatives in private infrastructure investing led by Esther Peiner. Our guest speakers – Evy Glørstad, CEO of CapeOmega AS, Baiba Rubesa, Operating Director at Gren, and Independent Adviser Patricia Rodrigues Jenner Ph.D.🌏 – and attendees discussed infra from every angle, from unlocking the next generation of low carbon maritime infrastructure to shaping opportunities for a just and effective transition. During her panel on 'Success in Sustainability', Baiba Rubesa said: "If we don’t take ESG seriously, companies will not be viable in the future. Let’s make ESG work for companies so it’s more efficient and effective."

Now an annual tradition, two key #infrastructure and #energy industry events happened recently, the Infrastructure Investor Global Summit #IIGS in Berlin and #CERAWeek in Houston. #InfraNEDs actively contribute to each of these conferences and we would like to share some key takeaways with you: 1. At #IIGS, the major market trends powering the “infrastructure of the future” were identified as #Digitalisation and #Decarbonisation ( “Transition Investing”) and they are intertwined. Infrastructure matters in delivering a just transition across the globe. 2. From A.I. to Oil, the challenges of balancing energy demand and supply dominated the talk at #CERAWeek … 3. Finally, the infrastructure risk / return profile is changing, particularly as regards energy… Investors, senior executives and Board NEDs (Chapter Zero) are essential in the stewardship of infrastructure and energy and should flip the conversation from short term “operating cost savings” or near-term returns to the long-term outlook and opportunities. Managing #impact and #climaterisk is vital.
