Well done to ifm, Gregg McClymont and Phelim Bolger for an excellent report. You highlight a number of important hurdles to investment into UK infrastructure and ways in which additional capital can be incentivised, which we are happy to support. We have been relaying similar messages on behalf of our investors in our interaction with Government and key stakeholders. https://ow.ly/17Me50TJxCJ Border To Coast Pensions Partnership, LGPS Central, Nest pensions, Nespf, Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, Universities Superannuation Scheme (Ltd), Aware Super, Cbus Super Fund, HESTA, Rest, CareSuper and Hostplus #TheUKBlueprint #IFMInvestors #PensionCapital #Pensions #Infrastructure #CleanPower #NetZero

It was a pleasure to welcome the Pensions Minister, Emma Reynolds MP, to Leith Port in Edinburgh earlier today. GLIL has had a significant stake in Forth Ports, the owners of Leith, since 2018. Forth are making substantial investments into their port estates as they play a significant role in supporting the offshore energy transition in the UK and supply chain security. We were joined by two of our partners: Liz Fernando, Chief Investment Officer at Nest Pensions, and Jon Little, Chair of LPPI, who act as the Alternative Investment Fund Manager for GLIL. It was a great opportunity for them to better understand the vision of the minister and exchange views. We also outlined the hurdles to investments by pension funds, which we hope the government can help us address. The Minister stated, “I was impressed with the long term vision of Forth Ports and the pension funds that invest in the company. Businesses often have long term time horizons but ports have to plan even further ahead than most. They’re making the improvements to the Port of Leith needed to deliver huge wind turbines and help the UK secure its energy supply and our net zero transition.” https://ow.ly/wZm850TGOvK https://ow.ly/UJJU50TGOvL #PensionsMinister #EmmaReynoldsMP #LeithPort #Edinburgh #GLIL #ForthPorts #OffshoreEnergy #Investments #NetZeroTransition #lppi

With the government looking at #LocalGovernmentPensionScheme funds and pools as an opportunity to encourage more investment in UK infrastructure, Infrastructure Investor talks to GLIL's Ted Frith about potential new investors, the direct investment approach, the UK imperative, and the investments of the future. On the idea of new funds competing for assets "...the reality is we've got an established vehicle. It's got a nine-year track record. It's got a bunch of satisfied investors and diverse portfolio of assets."
