It was wonderful to talk to Madame Djaffo, the President of Global Shea Alliance! Her insight is an inspiration to women and activists all over the world, it was a privilege to interview her. 🌍
🌿✨ GSA President, Madame Djaffo, recently sat down with International Confectionery Editor Hannah Lavin to share insights from her remarkable 40-year journey in the shea industry. From her early days collecting shea fruits 🍃 with her mother to leading the formation of FNPK—a network of over 50,000 women shea producers in Benin 🇧🇯—and now serving as the current President of the Global Shea Alliance. During their conversation, Madame Djaffo emphasized one of her core missions as GSA President: elevating the voices of women producers 👩🌾, who form the backbone of the shea industry. "The voices of women in the shea industry must be heard, and their contributions recognized," she said, reaffirming her commitment to keeping women's representation central to GSA’s strategy. She also underscored the importance of preserving shea parklands 🌍, stating, “Sustainable practices have always been part of our culture, not just a trend.
