  • 🤝 Congratulations to this innovative Polish biotech company for investing in York and North Yorkshire. Founder Joanna will develop Stoma Alert from her new UK base at York St. John University. She told us why she chose our region: "We came to York one day and we spent a few hours here chatting with the university and I knew it was the place I wanted to cooperate with. People are friendly and open-minded here and that's what we were looking for. "Our company will develop new medical devices here in the UK but especially in York. The first device will be Stoma Alert which will remotely support stoma patients." This fantastic news comes after we welcomed a delegation of Polish biotech companies in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade, City of York Council, North Yorkshire Council, York St. John University, Central European BioForum, Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) and the University of York for the PL-UK Building Bridges Programme.

  • We are celebrating one of our key employers in York and North Yorkshire after the company invested more than £85 million in new facilities. Thank you to Nestlé for providing a tour to the Invest in York and North Yorkshire team and David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire. The team learned how the investment has improved the efficiency of the factory and driven forward the research and development department. Our region has the foundations for businesses to build, grow and make their mark - locally, nationally and globally. Nestle is a great example of that. It was also fantastic to hear about the company's commitment to our region. Mark Davies, MD of Nestlé Confectionery UK&I, told us after the tour:   "As a large local employer and one with a long history and heritage connected with the local community, I was proud to be able to share Nestlé’s ongoing commitment to our York site. "We also discussed our contribution to the local economy through our site and our people, as well as the current and future opportunities for Nestlé to make a positive difference to the York community and economy.”
