As our season comes to its natural close next month, it is a wonderful time to review and see the final crops of the UK season. SUFFOLK HARVEST It is an exciting week at JEPCO’s Suffolk farm, as we are now harvesting the first crops. This may seem late in the season to some, but we use this farm to extend the season for British-grown lettuce. We take advantage of the climate being slightly warmer and more sheltered than at our Lincolnshire site. #ukproduce #britishgrowers #farming

An essential part of our autumn prep is the Incorporation of cover crops into our rotation. These we have been busy drilling through August and September. This has many environmental and soil benefits. The carefully selected mix depends on our objectives to maintain the soil quality, help control erosion and the water in the fields and provide a valuable habitat for the beneficial insects and wildlife. #crops #ukproduce #farming #ukfarming

Guillem Alenya and Alberto Olivares Alarcos have recently visited the UK ✈ 🎦 1: A hydroponic lettuce farm in Essex (JEPCO), one of the use cases of the ARISE Project 🎦 2: The Personal Robotics Laboratory of the Imperial College London, directed by Yiannis Demiris

It was a nice to welcome the Technical Teams from the different Greencore sites along with Poppy from Coop to Jepco Glebe so they could hold their KPI meeting. The visit included a tour of the Hydroponics unit to see the growing and packing operation in action before they got down to business. Hopefully a very productive visit for the members of Greencore and Coop, as it was a pleasure to be able to host them. #ukgrowers #hydroponics #lettuce #ukproduce

Despite the rain trying to do its best to stop us, Lettuce planting for the 2024 Summer season continues to go well.      As we the spring equinox passes and hopefully, we will see more sunlight and increasing temperatures, the plants will establish well under the fleece, which is helping to keep temperatures up, aiding the initial growth.      Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for further updates.   #ukproduce #farming #ukfarming #agriculture #crops 

This weekend, The first of our Salad Onions have been drilled straight into the JEPCO fields, with fleeces installed to keep them warm and aid growth. The crop will be ready by early July, with more Onions drilled every week. #lincolnshiregrowers #farmers #lincsfarming #agriculture
