Thank you to everyone who contributed to the recent questionnaire on the use of Smart Technologies in Kidwelly from a resident and visitor perspective - That has now closed and we wanted to share some of the immediate reflections on what they have told us. These are 6 immediate outcomes on what we have been told, I could sum a lot of it up by the need to get the basic engagement with everyone in the host town right to set a strong foundation, otherwise everything else is hard work. It’s been a pleasure to have Nia Harry with us for Work Experience this week. Nia is currently doing her A Levels and looking at Psychology as a degree. She came to us to see how that sort of degree could be applied in industry. She worked with Jim on putting People first in Smart Towns development (more on our new methodology soon) as well as supporting trials analysis - giving her a flavour of the full breadth of what we do. Thank you Nia for taking the time to be with us.

This time last week Barry and Jim were deep in a trench in far flung Oxfordshire with Martyn Beardsell. Utilising our trials capability, they were assessing the Defence and Security Accelerator funded Gap X project from each of the #HFI Domain perspectives (and acquiring sunburn in the process - that’s sun cream now in our trials kit list). Barry and Jim have spent the past two days of trials for Martyn Beardsell and his Gap-X solution. With a view to assessing usability, user safety and product optimisation as well as evidence gathering for proving capability, we had a fantastic time. The weather was brilliant and being hosted at “Tanks a Lot” near Brackley is always fun. Now comes a few days of reviewing all the photos and videos to pull together the findings.

Today Barry visited the BattleLab to utilise a hotdesk for the day. Very easy to arrange and spend the day being able to work, after meetings nearby yesterday. A better and safer option for our team members when in the area, rather than lots of driving in a short period of time.

Today the team visited UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) at Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) to talk about Human Factors in Engineering, multi domain crossover and Trains. Huge thank you to Kimberley Harding for hosting us.
