Learn together, devise solutions, and seek innovation - BattleLab making engagement with the defence sector easier.
About us
Learn together, devise solutions, and seek innovation in a state-of-the art workspace, making engagement with the defence sector more effortless. Defence does not hold the monopoly on innovation. Many militaries now leverage technologies developed in the commercial sector rather than developing bespoke solutions for their requirements. The BattleLab was born out of the need to embrace uncertainty, pivot in response to rapid global change, and leverage emerging technology faster. At Dorset Innovation Park, the collaborative environment is a partnership between Dorset Council, Defence and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership. A centre for innovators to ideate, fail fast and succeed sooner. #collaborate #ideate #co-create

BOOSTING INNOVATION: A new business support project for SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs is coming to Dorset. Jo Hancock, pictured, Programme Manager - STRIDE (Success Through Research, Innovation & Development Excellence) at the University of Plymouth explains more about STRIDE Dorset. “There are many barriers to growth for smaller businesses looking to exploit new opportunities, which is particularly challenging for start-ups many of whom struggle through their first few years of trading. “But it is in everyone’s interest for fledgling and maturing businesses to do well, which is why we are extending our business support programme STRIDE to Dorset, having delivered impactful change to many SMEs across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. “The project, which is led by the University of Plymouth, is a new undertaking in Dorset and is an advancement of our legacy projects Acceleration Through Innovation programmes 1 and 2 (ATI), which ran consecutively for seven years in Cornwall and the Scilly Isles. “STRIDE will provide a bespoke suite of innovation support, stimulating a cultural change of innovative thinking and business modelling, facilitating growth, productivity and sustainable change. “Our aim, with the backing of Government and Dorset Council UK, is to provide a select number of eligible businesses with a package of support, whether that be expert consultancy through to academic expertise; specialist research to Innovation Masterclasses; small innovation grants in partnership with Dorset Council and Innovation Exchange events hosted in the BattleLab.” 📰 Full story: https://lnkd.in/eyGimrvV ▶️ A launch event is being held on November 5 place from 9.30am to 2.30pm at state-of-the-art workspace BattleLab, at Dorset Innovation Park Enterprise Zone in Wool, near Dorchester. 💻 Register for the free event here: https://lnkd.in/eu_DDhaz

Contrary to popular belief the BattleLab does not often set up and run our own events and activities. We are a facility built for collaboration and our Defence BattleLab team are facilitators. We are more than happy to engage with those that feel similarly about collaboration and innovation so that they can raise awareness of future focus areas through events and workshops. Our purpose is to support others in their innovative journeys and bring people together to increase the pace and acceptance of innovation. STRIDE Dorset has been set up with the University of Plymouth and Dorset Council UK to enable small businesses to adapt and innovate in an ever changing world and will be running a number of workshops through the facility. You can find out more about the Battlelab and how we operate at our monthly virtual briefings. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eEa9Ejnx UK Ministry of Defence personnel can sign up to a separate brief through our Defence Battlelab SharePoint. #Defence #MinistryofDefence #Innovation #Futures #DorsetCouncil #BattleLab #SMEs #Business
