    Our teams from Kajima Partnerships and Kajima Properties utilised one of their two annual volunteering days at Share Garden Centre, a fantastic social enterprise located on the grounds of our Springfield Village development in Tooting, Southeast London. As part of our commitment to social impact and community engagement, we spent the day preparing the garden for spring while gaining insight into Share's vital work. The centre provides horticulture training for adults with learning disabilities and autism, equipping them with essential skills in gardening, customer service, and quality control. Revenue from plant sales is reinvested into the charity, helping to create pathways to greater independence and wellbeing for its students. We are proud to support initiatives like Share, which provide impactful services in our communities.     Ahead of retiring in June, our former MD of 25 years and current Senior Advisor, Julian Rudd-Jones, has started his ‘farewell tour’ – Julian plans to visit as many of Kajima’s PFI projects as possible to find out if our buildings have stood the test of time and how well they have adapted to servicing their communities. We’ll be covering Julian’s visits, exploring some of the challenges and sharing his thoughts in due course – look out for the first instalment from the Northeast. In September 2024, Chris Gill was appointed Managing Director of Kajima Partnerships. To date, Kajima Partnerships has social infrastructure projects with a total investment value of over £1bn and has 4GW of renewable energy projects in development across Europe. #SocialInfrastructure #PFI #PublicPrivatePartnerships

    After 25 years with Kajima Europe, I am retiring this June, having started the Partnerships side of the business in 1999 to deliver Social Infrastructure and Regeneration with and for our public sector partners.    Since then, we have completed over 30 projects and more recently diversified into Renewables.    Before I retire, my plan is to visit as many of our projects as possible, to celebrate the colleagues and partners who made these projects happen and to see how the buildings and the places we created have stood the test of time, responding to the changing needs of our occupiers and servicing the communities in which they are based.    I'm starting off in the Northeast, which is where we won our first PFI projects, and I am looking forward to sharing with you in the next couple of weeks my thoughts and findings on the first leg of my trip.   • Construction well underway at Velindre Cancer Centre 🚧 It is great to see that the construction of the new Velindre Cancer Centre is progressing well and we are on the way to delivering one of the most sustainable hospitals in the UK. Led by the ACORN consortium, with Kajima, SACYR, abrdn and the Development Bank of Wales, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to transform cancer care in South East Wales. With sustainability at its core, the hospital targets BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and is set to be all-electric, reducing carbon emissions and optimising energy efficiency. On-site progress: 🏗️ Four tower cranes in operation, formation of substructure, slabs, formwork and pouring of suspended slabs 🧱Structure progressing from basement (staff car parking) to lower ground floor (patient parking and clinical areas) 👷♂️ It’s a busy site, average 250 employees per day 👨👩👦👦Lots of community benefits including job creation, schools and community engagement, and carbon literacy training We look forward to watching this landmark project develop over the coming months as we work towards opening in April 2027.     We’re excited to announce that Kajima Europe has acquired Student Depot's third development site in Warsaw, reinforcing our position as Poland's leading investor in purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA).   Today, Student Depot: 👩🎓 serves nearly 4,200 students across Poland 🛌 with 1,500 more beds in development, including projects in Poznań and Gdańsk 🚀 The acquisition is part of Kajima’s broader strategy to expand Student Depot Jan Trybulski, Head of Poland, Kajima Europe: “The acquisition of this prime Warsaw site underlines Kajima’s commitment to expanding our portfolio and delivering best-in-class PBSA.
