💳 Read about how the Cal-ITP: California Integrated Travel Project is working with 60 transit agencies around the US to roll out 'tap to pay' fare systems. The initiative, run by California state agency Caltrans is helping agencies as far away as Connecticut, Oklahoma and South Carolina to offer contactless on transit vehicles. Vendors, including Kuba Group, are providing 'off the shelf' technology through Cal-ITP's Mobility Marketplace that enables even smaller agencies to buy and deploy systems. Caltrans' Gillian Gillett, who oversees the program, said making payments easy is crucial for broadening transit’s appeal.
