Have you upgraded to SimplyGo? SimplyGo is a time-saver for me. Previously, I could only perform top-ups and purchase concession passes from the ticketing machine. There were times when kids forgot about the low balance and ended up walking their way home. So when I learned about the benefits of SimplyGo, I upgraded them immediately. ✅ Perform top-ups and concession passes remotely: extremely useful for kids' and grandparents' concession cards. ✅ Historic transactions: mostly use this feature to determine if purchasing concession passes will be cost savings. ✅ Block card: useful feature to prevent unauthorized use, especially when kids lost their concession cards. The only downside is that we are not able to view the balance immediately on the screen when we tap in/out. This is acceptable for me as I understand that the transactions are processed backend, similar to credit and debit card transactions. I saw the other day another example of how companies are changing how they do business by using digital tools to offer more than just their main products or services. This lets them reach new customers, or extend services to existing customers, and create new ways to make money. An example here is Uber, which has now started to offer access to buying train tickets in their digital app. Of course, it can't be the most cost effective way of buying a train ticket, simply because it is a private company that does not run train services. There are a number of companies that do and a few mainstream rail apps. However, Uber has simply needed to add a new digital service to their app, integrating it with existing train ticketing solutions. APIs, which are important tools for connecting different computer systems, make this easier. The rise of electronic payments and these standardised connections are speeding up this change and creating ecosystems that rely on digital tools. Companies can grow by using data and technology in creative ways. We are going to see more of this..
