About us

We've found that there's something about working for large national consultancies that makes it hard to deliver what’s really important. That's why we gave up our jobs and started kyoob. The idea was to create a professional consultancy with a difference, with more of a client focus and one that brings real value to every project. And to make working on projects enjoyable too. We want people to think of kyoob as a flexible small practice with large practice experience and quality. We believe you can have both. On projects, we look to see where we can bring real value and tailor a service to those exact needs, not talking the job up to secure a larger fee. We believe by taking appointments based on these principles our project portfolio will grow, both across various sectors and client base. And we’ll be giving our clients a better service too. We believe kyoob can offer a service that, quite frankly, has been lacking for some time now. We’re excited about our new venture and hope we have your support. We know we’ll deliver a service you’ll come to demand. We can help with anything from tender analysis to complex thermal analysis, get in touch and we’ll give you our impartial honest advice. You see that’s another thing, a practice built on traditional values of honesty, integrity and personal service coupled with fresh thinking has to be a good thing.

Wonderful to be back at Beamish Museum yesterday. Several months after P.C. and it's great to see the amazing cinema and shops in use as part of the 1950s Town. The scheme really is testament to the vision of the Beamish team, design by SPACE Architects (UK) Billinghurst George & Partners and kyoob constructed by Brims Construction Limited. A notable mention to Thornton-Firkin LLP as PM ensuring the team all collaborated to achieve a successful delivery. As a place many of us have grown up with and visited it really was a pleasure to be involved!

Another project complete ✅ Our cost and project management services division has successfully completed its latest project at Derwentside College. The team carried out the cost management role, from pre-contract to completion, starting on-site in March 2024, and reaching completion in September 2024. The project consisted of the construction of a new mezzanine floor with internal alterations and refurbishment to specific areas of the college. The mezzanine floor installation has created additional floor space, allowing the college to expand. Great work by all involved - Howarth Litchfield, kyoob, Hydrock, now Stantec, Meldrum Group👏

We're delighted to announce that our senior engineer, Mark Attwood, has successfully completed his Passivhaus Certified Designer training course and exam. Very well done Mark! We're committed to providing valuable training to our staff that not only adds value to the company but is also interesting to our staff. Mark's achievement puts us in unique position within the region, that of being a building services engineer and Passivhaus Designer. We believe this will enable us to add significant value to Passivhaus and traditional projects, whether working as the lead Passivhaus Designer or as a building services engineer as part of a wider team. We'd love to discuss any domestic or commercial projects where you're considering a Passivhaus approach or generally looking at low energy design. We already have our first Passivhaus commercial project lined up with the first meeting happening next week!

Napper Architects have worked with Northumberland Estates and garden centre operator Blue Diamond to submit a planning application for a garden centre on land east of the A1 near Alnwick. Representing a £13 million investment from Northumberland Estates, the garden centre is anticipated to attract significant footfall, create over 150 new full and part-time jobs, and further solidify Alnwick's reputation as a prime destination for retail, leisure, food, and hospitality. The new garden centre will be managed by Blue Diamond, one of the UK's largest garden centre chains. The facility will feature extensive indoor and outdoor plant sections, as well as areas dedicated to gardening products, leisure and homeware, and outdoor furniture. The application was submitted following a public consultation period during which local residents were invited to provide feedback on the plans. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with over 74% of respondents welcoming the proposals. Colin Barnes, Director of Planning and Development for Northumberland Estates, said: "Our objective is to establish the premier garden centre in the North East right here in Alnwick, and our plans reflect that ambition. We have taken into account the feedback from the public consultation, and our plans address several concerns raised, including the installation of EV chargers, rainwater harvesting systems, and solar panels."
