📢 We have an important update on our IATEFL Themes 2024 event This online conference will now take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November 2024. We have been made aware of a number of other events taking place around World Teachers' Day in October so we have taken the decision to move Themes so you can make the most out of all these CPD opportunities. IATEFL Themes is a celebration of our #IATEFL2024 conference and will feature some of the many highlights from that event. The second day of Themes will specifically feature highlights chosen by our Special Interest Groups, so there will be something for everyone no matter their area of interest. You may be wondering if someone like you could really speak at an international conference like IATEFL. We welcome proposals from any IATEFL member, regardless of where they come from, their area of work or level of experience. To give you an idea of the variety of speakers we welcome each year to the IATEFL Conference, here are some statistics about our Brighton 2024 speakers. 🌍 Where do our speakers come from? The 2024 speakers came from 84 countries around the world. From New Zealand to Canada, Japan to Chile, Norway to Eswatini, our speakers truly came from every corner of the world. 🆕 How experienced are our speakers? 41% of speakers in Brighton were speaking at an IATEFL Conference for the first time and for a quarter of speakers, this was their first time attending an IATEFL Conference. 🏢 What do our speakers do for work? Our speakers represent the huge breadth of variety within ELT. Around a third of our speakers in Brighton classed themselves as teachers or lecturers. The remaining two thirds of speakers were spread across the categories of teacher trainers, managers, materials writers and developers, publishers, freelancers and testers/examiners. 👥 Who are they speaking on behalf of? Two thirds of our speakers in 2024 were speaking on behalf of themselves. That leaves only one third who were representing publishers, exam boards, institutions and professional associations. Less than 10% of speakers were promoting a book or product in their session. If you can see yourself represented in those demographics, or even if you can’t, if you are an IATEFL member we would love to receive a proposal from you for #IATEFL2025.
