Wishing all the brave pupils from St Andrew's, Berkshire taking part in their Big Sleep Out tonight the best of luck! Thank you so much for supporting Launchpad - it really means a lot. Homelessness can happen to anyone. All it takes is a few poor decisions, bad luck, or a change in circumstances. That’s often all it takes to put someone at risk of becoming homeless. And a housing problem is not always an easy to overcome. This is why Launchpad exists. Whatever your situation. If you’re behind on your rent, or you’re sleeping rough, or sofa surfing, we can help you turn things around. Anyone can drop in and see us on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 10am and 2pm. If you would like to support us, please contact fundraising@launchpadreading.org.uk #YourBSO #SleepOut #charity #help #support

Preventing homelessness in Reading
About us
We know it’s easy to judge, but there is a real person and a hidden story behind every person who needs our help. Homelessness is complicated. It’s not just about losing a roof from over your head. It’s about losing self-esteem, structure and purpose. Not everyone can draw on a stable upbringing or the support of friends/family to help overcome life’s setbacks. Drug, alcohol, mental health issues, being jobless or losing a job and Reading’s lack of affordable housing makes people vulnerable to homelessness. We provide three services to prevent homelessness in the town: Housing with support. Our own clean, safe housing combined with individual support is the most effective way to get people back on track. Preventing homelessness. Floating Support is the national name for a service that helps prevent homelessness. Launchpad supports single parents, families, couples and individuals to stay in their own homes and help with landlord issues. We also help find appropriate housing for people in unsuitable accommodation such as families in B&Bs. Drop-in. Available to anyone in Reading who needs housing or homelessness-related advice. You could be sleeping on a friend’s sofa, not sure how to find accommodation, worried about rent, need benefit advice or help with drug or alcohol misuse. We can help prevent a problem becoming a crisis. Everyone has their own challenges and our support in the form of help with fundamental and complementary life skills with a safe, clean home gives people the best chance of success: Fundamental life skills. Often our clients need professional help to overcome alcohol and drug misuse. We also help with numeracy and literacy, IT skills, job search and managing mental health issues. Complementary life skills. Our support is holistic. Our activities programme includes counselling, an allotment, beekeeping and art. This may not sound like typical support, but these initiatives really help with self-esteem and confidence.

We are extremely grateful to have the support of three local hairdressers who come in regularly to Launchpad 135 to offer free haircuts to clients. 👍 Appointments need to be made with the team at 135, but this is a service that can mean so much to vulnerable people, enabling them to feel supported, cared for and good about themselves. 😀 There is no busy salon to navigate, just a quiet area at 135. 🙏 Long-time supporter and hairdresser Gail will be in tomorrow, and we also benefit from the hairdressing skills of Jessy and Romina. ✂️ #FeelGoodFactor #supported #help #hairdresser #haircut #charity #rdguk

⭐ Happy Gift Aid Awareness Day! ⭐ We’re celebrating by raising awareness as claiming Gift Aid on donations is worth so much to us. Gift Aid is a scheme that lets UK taxpayers supercharge their charity donations but doesn’t cost them any extra. If you’re a UK taxpayer and donate to Launchpad, we can claim an additional 25% of the value of your donation. So, for every £10 donated, we would receive £12.50, for £100 that’s an extra £25 – it really does add up for us and won’t cost you a penny extra. All you have to do when you donate is say YES to Gift Aid. ✔️ If you’ve donated in the past and don’t think you’ve said yes to gift aid, just get in touch and we can check. Email fundraising@launchpadreading.org.uk #TickTheBox #GiftAid #homeless #charity #support #SayYesToGiftAid

We had a great day on our allotment on Thursday with so much achieved in a short space of time! Thanks to Alight Media all potatoes were lifted and washed along with the beetroot, ready for delivery on Monday to Readifood. One and a half plots were completely covered ready for winter. We had to call it a day when the rain came down and never stopped! ⛈️ If you are interested in helping out on our allotments, where we grow fresh fruit and vegetables for the local food bank and our Launchpad clients who attend 135, please contact Kirsti Wilson, our head of fundraising and marketing by emailing kirsti.wilson@launchpadreading.org.uk. We are now taking bookings for 2025! #CSR #allotment #FoodBank #volunteer #support #homeless #charity
