Ending homelessness, rebuilding lives

About us

We're a charity working to end homelessness and rebuild lives in England. 🏡 We work directly with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, providing them with services to find paths away from the homelessness, for good. 📣 We influence policy makers to make positive change, through the power of our clients’ voices and our operational expertise. Last year we helped more than 28,000 people across 160 services. Our services meet our clients where they are, from rough sleeping support and emergency accommodation, to finding a longer-term home, and helping people to learn new skills, find jobs and reconnect.

We’re here. On the streets. Every day and every night. Rain or shine. Helping people bounce back from homelessness, for good. We’ve launched our first brand advertising campaign – We’re Here. We’ve known for years at St Mungo’s that public profile is key to achieving our ambitions. We’ve also known that we’ve had some catching up to do, with public perceptions not matching the extensive work we do on the frontline. This year a perfect storm of the right timing, insight data and agency partners Red Stone and Medialab Group, has made this campaign possible. The creative focus is on our positive action, with the simple message that we are there when people need us, which is deeply true to us and what we want to be known for. This site opposite the Old Vic Theatre is one of our favourites. If you’ve always wondered what we do, now’s the perfect time to find out more. https://lnkd.in/e5_BAixZ #Homelessness #RoughSleeping #CharityComms #StMungosIsHere #Advertising

📣 In celebration of Black History Month, we’re sharing stories of Black historical figures that inspire our team. First up, Keon, our Head of Business, reflects on General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, who's life was a constant battle against the odds. His courage, strength, and fight against oppression makes him an enduring source of inspiration. #BlackHistoryMonth #Inspiration

On this World Homeless Day, we’d like to give a shout out to our brave corporate supporters who took on the challenge last week to abseil for homelessness. These supporters descended 200ft down the iconic Senate House, taking in an experience and breathtaking views that they’ll never forget. Huge thanks to Colliers, Ashfords LLP, London LGPS CIV Limited, Regular Cleaning, Queensway, Kaizen, Baker Hughes and Thomas Miller 🧡

In June, 50,000 of you signed our call for the government to extend and uplift essential funding for rough sleeping services. Last week, we published a joint sector letter to the chancellor, asking for the same thing. But the Government has still not committed and this funding hangs in the balance. In just six months, the Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI) funding is due to end. This will put 1/3 of our critical rough sleeping services on a cliff edge – as well as the lives of the people who rely on them. In a few weeks the Government will announce the Autumn budget. This issue must be addressed. Now is the time for the government to respond. Email your local MP today and urge them to renew funding for rough sleeping services: https://lnkd.in/exAHJggH

We’re excited to announce that we have just launched a new partnership with Curzon Cinemas, running from October to the end of December. This winter, Curzon will raise vital funds for St Mungo’s through customer donations. The partnership will be promoted in Curzon cinemas across the country, featured on screens and in magazines, with lots of opportunities for customers to donate directly through our partnership QR code. 100% of the donations made at Curzon will be given to St Mungo’s - income which will provide essential support for our services and the people who rely on us as at this time of year. You can find out more about our partnership with Curzon here: https://lnkd.in/ejrvD_Fs

"Today’s sobering statistics point to the scale of homelessness and the challenge ahead for national and local government, as well as charities, in tackling it." - Emma Haddad, St Mungo's CEO. Government statistics have revealed a shocking 8% increase in homelessness, as the cost-of-living crisis and lack of affordable housing continue to bite. Along with 22 other homelessness organisations, St Mungo's is calling on the government to protect vital funding for homelessness, which is due to end in March 2025.
