Supporting learning, creating opportunities
About us
Leeds Mencap is a completely independent charity, started by and for those with learning disabilities. We’ve come a long way since we opened our doors nearly 70 years ago. Now, we support more than 470 families and individuals on their journey with learning disabilities. Not only do we offer important services to people with learning disabilities, we recognise the needs of the whole family too. We’re on hand to provide advice, support and long-term help to all those we work with. We operate out of The Vinery Centre, a warm and vibrant building which was built with the purpose of bringing communities together. We provide support through our youth clubs, playschemes, family support service, specialist playroom, sensory room and soft play area.

We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising during Learning Disability Week! A brilliant £2743 was raised through sponsored activities in our Youth Clubs, a sensory walk in Chats & Tots, a sponsored obstacle course and pram push in Nursery as well as a bun sales during the week at The Vinery Centre. The money will help us to continue providing specialist, practical, emotional and social support to children and young people with learning disabilities and their families.
