This is a huge relief. Mass containment sites bordered by high walls and barbed wire are incredibly harmful for people who have fled war and persecution. Ministers must now shut down RAF Wethersfield. https://lnkd.in/edUe4_K6

Refugees in the UK aren't safe yet. Everyone who's fled for their lives deserves a chance to rebuild them in safety.
About us
Imagine what it’s like to flee your home in fear. To leave everything you own, everything you know and everyone you care about. To arrive in a new country with nothing but your life. You’ve survived. But how will you eat tonight? Where will you sleep? And how can you build a new life? How will you live? Refugee Action is there to help people find the answers. We help people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to live again. We help people find the basic support everyone deserves if they’re to live with dignity. The chance to build the safest, happiest and most productive life they can, so they can live. And where we encounter policies, practices or attitudes that won’t allow this chance, we challenge. We believe everyone who’s fled their home to survive deserves a chance to live again. If you do too, support us today.

⌛ History isn’t just the past: it’s the foundation of our present and future. Reclaiming the narrative of Black history means dismantling colonial legacies, amplifying voices, and ensuring the next generation inherits truth, not distortion. 🎙️In the final takeover by RAS Voice of #TheEbEPodcast, our panel dives deep into the importance of reclaiming the narrative of Black history, breaking free from Eurocentric perspectives and amplifying the voices that have been silenced for too long. 🔥✊🏾🌍They explore the significance of colours in Black culture, the pivotal role of Black women in power, and colonialism's lasting impact on today’s society. This is not just a conversation; it’s a movement to rewrite history through the lens of truth, resilience, and empowerment. 🗣️Jason Thomas-Fournillier hosts this episode alongside Cathrine Lebadou, NICO NDLOVU & Jonathan Kazembe. What do we want? The right to work! When do we want it? Now! It’s time to #LiftTheBan. We stood outside parliament with the Lift The Ban coalition, a group of campaigners armed with skills, expertise, and one strong message to the government: We are a powerhouse, a workforce ready to work - but we can’t because of a senseless ban. Stay tuned for more footage from this brilliant action, where the voices of people who this ban impacts every single day were heard loud and clear

No one should face asylum alone. Living in hotel rooms for months strips people of dignity while private companies profit. We're fighting for a housing system that puts people first. Read Liyana's* story, plus interviews with caseworker Hannah, and Mounir's journey to reunite with his family - all in our winter newsletter. https://lnkd.in/euFXSq_T

This decision is appalling and cruel. The government must reverse it. It ignores reality - there are no safe routes for most people who need protection. This is designed to punish and exclude people seeking safety from the rights of citizenship. People have already struggled to rebuild their lives here. To deny them citizenship now further deepens the inequality and discrimination in our communities. It will disproportionately affect people from racialised backgrounds, perpetuating systemic racial injustice in our society. Denying refugee rights for political gain hurts all of us. It emboldens far-right movements and divides our communities. We stand in solidarity with countless refugees who will be affected by this policy change. Citizenship must be a right, not a privilege to be weaponised. The government must reverse this decision.

🚀 Season 4 of the Experts by Experience Podcast is here! 🎙️ ⚠️The UK’s asylum system is in crisis—but those with lived experience are stepping up to push for real change. Lived experience groups are vital because they bring the voices of those directly impacted by the asylum system into the conversation. They challenge policies, advocate for fairer treatment, and push for meaningful change. 👥 By centring refugee and asylum seeker voices, they ensure that decisions about the system are informed by those who understand its challenges firsthand. Their presence is not only important but essential for creating a more just, compassionate, and effective asylum process. ✨In our season premiere, we’re handing the mic to RAS Voice, a campaign group led by refugees and people seeking asylum, supported by Refugee Action. 🎙️ In this episode, RAS Voice takes over #TheEbEPodcast and discusses RAS Voice's achievements, goals, and ongoing fight for a fairer, more compassionate, and effective asylum system. 🗣️ Cathrine Lebadou hosts this episode alongside Jonathan Kazembe, Refugee Action's EbE Manager; Patrick Masebo, an EbE coordinator at MRSN and One Strong Voice; and Sarbaz, a member of the RAS Voice and EbE steering group.
