CASTING THE FUTURE Today marked a significant milestone for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease. The weather has been extremely kind in allowing the first significant section of the foundations to be poured, marking the first key programme target for the scheme. In the background, the team continue to plan the follow on stages and we would express a sincere note of thanks to the site teams who continue to push things forward. So what next you ask.., more concrete and then over to the bricklayers who will start to shape the footprint of the building ahead of the ground floor installation. Thanks to everyone for your continued support 💥

Branch Manager at Rogers McHugh Recruitment Limited- Providing Construction Talent- Nationwide

Legs are definitely a bit sore this morning, but definitely worth it. Despite some extremely unhelpful roadworks pushing us closer to the 24hrs than we would have like, we got the National 3 Peaks done under the time, but most importantly smashing our £1000 target, to raise money for the new Rob Burrow MND centre. Massive thankyou to everybody that donated, it's such an amazing and important cause! https://lnkd.in/e9ubehwE Tom Daly James Long Rogers McHugh Recruitment Limited Leeds Hospitals Charity

As 2023 drew to a close Leeds Hospitals Charity, in collaboration with BAM UK & Ireland, began a project that would revitalise the Palliative & End of Care team's office at the hospital, creating a more comforting environment for the staff. Liz Rees, Lead Nurse for Palliative & End of Life Care and the Palliative Care team had been residing in their office space for over 20 years; It was starting to look tired and outdated, and definitely needed some attention. BAM UK & Ireland then stepped in. Having completed work on the pathology centre, the lovely team at BAM offered to refurbish the Palliative Care office free of charge! Working closely with a team of subcontractors, work began to ‘freshen up’ tired areas, install new window blinds, provide new ceiling tiles and paint the walls. The result is a space that is now loved and it's amazing the difference a fresh coat of paint can make to the Palliative Care team morale. Staff can now feel more relaxed, comfortable and appreciated following the refurbishment and Liz Rees believes updating and decorating the office has had a benefit for the health and wellbeing of her colleagues. Liz wants to thank BAM and their subcontractors for doing an excellent job, and say that the team that completed the work were incredibly professional and helpful. Thank you BAM and your amazing sub-contractors Fresco Solar Shading LLP NG Décor Harmony Flooring Sparta Systems Limited 💜

Rob had settled into a new home with his wife Karen and the pair were looking forward to enjoying their retirement when he received the diagnosis of MND. He has had to slow down but has a positive outlook as well as a support system of friends and family which means he can focus on what he can do now instead of dwelling on what he is no longer able to. In this second episode of our 'Voices of MND' series, we hope to raise the remaining £500,000 for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND by highlighting the stories and experiences of individuals with MND in Yorkshire. Really proud of the NECS Consultancy Yorkshire & Humber team for supporting Leeds Hospitals Charity this morning as part of their final push to fundraise for the British Transplant Games! The games, which are taking place this weekend in Nottingham, provide a unique opportunity for patients and their families to meet others who have experienced a similar journey, whilst celebrating life after a transplant and remembering donor families. Leeds Hospitals Charity have been raising money to send a team from Leeds down to Nottingham to take part, and we are delighted that our fundraising efforts will help them to achieve this!   The day revolved around the theme of '89' as the Trust recently completed its 890th paediatric organ transplant and so we joined other volunteers in running/cycling 89 miles over the course of the day. Our slot was 10-11am and we were happy to contribute 21 miles towards the total! And whilst we were there we obviously couldn't miss the chance to get a picture in the giant shoes and support the bake sale too 🍰   There was a fantastic atmosphere and it was great to speak to the Leeds Hospitals Charity staff about the games & see some pictures of the kids taking part last year, and we can't wait to hear how they get on this year!   A few of us are also taking part in the York 10k this weekend to hopefully raise some more money to support this amazing charity. To find out more about the other work they support, and to donate if you are able to, check out our fundraising page here: https://lnkd.in/eJuF7cGY

890 children have received transplants at the Leeds children hospital. The paediatric transplant team and Leeds Hospitals Charity are currently fundraising by cycling and running 89 miles. Myself and my colleague from the paediatric neurology team supported and contributed 8 miles. As an employee at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust I find it important to reflect back on the reason what attracted me to apply for my position, the short answer is the Leeds way values. Collaborative working comes to mind when there is a call out for volunteers/supporters, it is an amazing opportunity to meet other colleagues from different departments with a common interest and purpose. #smashedit

We are glad to announce that we are just £500,000 away from reaching our £6.8 million goal for the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease. When Rob Burrow tragically died last month, the outpouring of love and support was overwhelming. In his memory, over £250,000 was donated, bringing us even closer to our target thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. Although building work has begun, we still need YOUR help to complete Rob's dream. The Rob Burrow Centre will be more than just a hospital building; it will be a beacon of hope and a place of comprehensive care for MND patients, with facilities for speech and language therapy, dietetics, neurology, and more all under one roof. Together, let's honour Rob's legacy. Your donation, big or small, will make a significant difference. Donate today: https://lnkd.in/ekabJzS9

SITE SMILES ☀️ We are delighted to have welcomed Agam Jung and Lindsey Burrow to site for a walk through progress with the foundations and drainage diversion works at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust MND Project. With the sun high and a very blue sky, our site team talked through the current and planned activities marking this, a very significant stage of the build. Great to see you both 🥾 👷🏻♂️
