Last month, the Leesman and HqO teams from across EMEA got together for our first joint company day. From a mock pitch surprise team challenge, to virtual clay pigeon shooting and finishing things off with a well-deserved trip to the pub, it was a day filled with moments that matter. Days like these remind us of how valuable it is to have the opportunity of face to face time with our colleagues. As we move forward with our integration, the amazing levels of collaboration and cooperation seen between our teams have us even more excited for our joint future ahead. #TeamBuilding #CompanyDay #FutureReady

In 2018, ITOKI CORPORATION opened its Tokyo headquarters, ITOKI TOKYO XORK. XORK was created to be the first in Japan to fully embrace Activity Based Working and to design a way of working autonomously with a high degree of self-discretion. They continue to make annual data-driven renovations to make the office even more focused on collaboration and comfort. As a result, ITOKI achieved the Leesman+ Excellent certification in 2024. These changes are positively reflected in the employee sentiments, with respondents who agreed that ‘My workplace supports me sharing ideas/knowledge among colleagues’ increasing from 5.8% to 72.4% in 2024. These changes have contributed significantly to higher employee engagement, lower turnover, and talent acquisition. This certification recognises companies for providing outstanding employee workplace experience. “For our hubs in Peterborough and Birmingham to be given Leesman+ recognition shows that we are at the forefront of modernising the Civil Service while supporting economic growth across the UK, not just in capital cities.” – Georgina Dunn, Interim Director of Capital Projects, GPA The building was aligned with the Government Workplace Design Guide, providing flexible, digitally connected workspaces to support greater productivity, create cost efficiencies, and enhance carbon reduction. Mandating people to be in the workplace won’t fix an average office. While it will increase feet under desks, it certainly won’t support women, facilitate younger workers collaborating with older peers, or boost productivity. The average workplace experience score (Lmi) for men is 69.2, and the average home Lmi (H-Lmi) is 77.8. For women, while the average Lmi score is only slightly poorer at 68.3, the home experience is outstanding at 80.7. And while the office experience declines overall with age, for women the decline is much more significant. Companies need to understand the unique needs of their workforces, and then use that insight when designing offices and workplace strategies. How can employees, who work remotely for significant parts of their work week, expect to have an assigned desk, when it means that the desk will be empty for at least half the time? It should now be easier than ever before to rationalise why employees will no longer have workstations to call their own with the widespread adoption of hybrid working. Unfortunately, the rationale is not quite that simple. So, how do you choose a workplace seating strategy that will not only give your employees a great experience while also prioritising business outcomes? https://lnkd.in/eNtYvU8r #HybridWorking #SeatingStrategies #Hotdesking #EmployeeExperience

How we work has been drastically altered post-pandemic, and there has been a fundamental shift in what employees want and need, adding pressure on facilities and people managers to get it right. Our Chief Insights and Research Officer, Dr Peggie Rothe, spoke with Premises & Facilities Management to discuss the importance of feeling connected in the workplace, and how this reframes the way buildings and people are managed. “Previously, we were managing work predominantly within four walls and making sure that environment met all the various needs that people have. But now that’s expanded tenfold when we add the home variant into that equation. So it certainly is a challenge but I want to more thoroughly emphasise: it is also an opportunity.” You can find Peggie’s full comments on pages 29-30. https://lnkd.in/ecB4Qdv3 #LeesmanIndex #FutureOfWork #HybridWorking

Quay House in Peterborough, which was opened in 2023, and is occupied by the Government Property Agency (GPA) has received Leesman+ certification which is awarded to the world’s leading workplaces. The Leesman survey results showed that 70.1% of respondents agreed that it is a place workers feel "proud to bring visitors to", and two-thirds agreed the building provides an "enjoyable environment to work in and enables them to work productively". “The addition of the UK Government’s Quay House hub as a Certified Leesman+ workplace presents another powerful illustration that placing employees’ lived workplace experience at the centre of all design and build decisions delivers both outstanding places to work, and great returns on investment.” – Dr Peggie Rothe, Chief Insights and Research Officer at Leesman.
