This months Spotted – Our Diwali and Halloween Books! Both Diwali and Halloween fall on the same day this month, October 31st, bringing a unique cultural overlap. Being two of the most vibrant cultural festivals, we are joining in celebrating by spotting our books about these events. These titles were added to the bestselling Baby Touch series we updated with the Penguin Random House UK team, and join the other festival titles: Eid, Easter and Christmas. Diwali is celebrated by lighting lamps, decorating buildings, exchanging presents, being with family and watching huge firework displays. This meant we had our work cut out to include everything into the 5 spreads board book layout. Keeping the illustrations bright and simple, we managed to feature the key icons, encourage little ones to touch-and-feel the pages as well as introduce them to the wonderful celebration. Ghosts! Spiders! Ghouls! How do you make a traditionally scary festival adorable? The question asked of many a designer! Add in cute faces, googly eyes, fancy dress and bright colours and you can make even the scariest icon fun. We are really proud of these two titles and the reaction they have had. This month's Trend Club is a mix of our girly favourites, Eclectic Lux! Bows and Cherries, combined with a lavish colour palette, have been the key icons this season. Alongside those, we are seeing a rise of sweet confectionery images and kitsch pets in pretty pastels. These cute, novelty themes work perfectly for stationery, giftware and pyjamas. Welcome to this month's September Shades Colour Club! As the month of new beginnings, here are some key colours for you to enjoy and sip a cup of inspiration! These shades feel warm, cosy and earthy, all reminiscent of Autumn. Mix in a bit of mystical and we have a collection of new beginnings as well! Dark Olive Green and Bronze provide the warm, earthy and deep characteristics expected from a classic Autumnal palette. Spotted in the Savanna! Our cool Safari animal print has been bought to life in this lovely pyjama range. The simplicity of the shapes along with limiting the number of colours used, naturally created a fresh, unisex look to this theme. Adapting the base colours also allows the end product to beautifully transition into an Autumn/Fall range.
