Very excited to share that we've been shortlisted for Global Mobility Team of the year by the International Employment Lawyer Awards 2024. Our Global Mobility team has grown tremendously since it first launched in 2022. The team now consists of ten employment lawyers, with additional support from the corporate tax and immigration teams, among others. This offering provides an integrated approach to address complex global mobility and remote working issues across jurisdictions, and guides employers to manage their global workforce with greater ease and efficiency. Amy Nevins recently spoke to The Lawyer about setting up the service offering. Full article here: https://okt.to/E9ikXe

A recent survey revealed that about 78% of Hong Kong-based companies are struggling to locate talent. This shortage of talent, together with a general skills shortage and shifting attitudes of the incumbent workforce, mean that competition in Hong Kong is fierce, with employers having to strategise on how to address the issue of talent and staff retention to remain competitive. For more on how employers can respond to the evolving needs of multi-generational workforces and communicate effectively to win the war on talent, read here: https://okt.to/Gdb9y2 #Futureofwork #hongkonglaw #talentshortage #employmentlaw

Lucy & Vivienne discuss AI’s role in shaping the future of work. 🎙️ As AI continues to transform the workplace, understanding how it can enhance human intelligence is crucial. Lucy Lewis and Dr Vivienne Ming explore the evolving relationship between AI and the workforce, emphasising the importance of developing strategies that prioritise human potential. Tune in to discover how AI can be a tool for progress, rather than replacement. Key Takeaways: 👉AI as a tool for enhancement: AI should be viewed as a tool to augment human intelligence and creativity rather than replace it, emphasising the importance of human value in technology strategies. 👉Understanding vs. Knowledge: While AI excels at recognising patterns and processing known information, it lacks true understanding and creativity, which are inherently human traits. 👉Productive friction: Embracing “productive friction” involves using AI to challenge our ideas and improve our skills, rather than simply automating tasks, thereby enhancing the quality of our work. 👉The risks of disaggregation: The disaggregation of jobs may lead to productivity gains, but it also risks diminishing professional identity and satisfaction. Finding a balance between automation and meaningful work is essential. 👉Empowerment through AI: The focus should shift from AI making our tasks easier to how it can enable us to achieve things we couldn't before, fostering growth and innovation in our roles. 👉Identifying peer role models: It is crucial to identify “unofficial” leaders who can inspire and influence others. This offers untapped potential in companies by bridging the gap between leadership and everyday employee experiences. Subscribe and listen here: https://okt.to/max3ui

It was a pleasure to attend the UK Social Mobility Awards 2024 last week, where Holly Wray was nominated in the Rising Star of the Year category. 👏 Statistics show that law continues to be one of the least diverse professions in the UK by socio-economic background. Through various policies, programmes and recent fundraising for our charity partner The Sutton Trust, we're committed to widening access to the legal profession to everyone, regardless of their background. It was great to spend the evening with others dedicated to elevating social mobility on the agenda. #SocialMobility #LewisSilkin
