How do we inspire more students to choose photonics as a career? At Light Trace, we believe part of the answer is hands-on experience that generates excitement for the potential of integrated photonics! Last week, we were thrilled to host a workshop at the University of Bristol's Quantum in the Summer school, aimed at igniting the passion of the next generation of engineers in quantum and photonics. 🌟 During our workshop, Year 12 students delved into the cutting-edge world of photonics and quantum technologies. Using our flagship product, the #LightPort, they had the unique opportunity to program photonic chips, learning how to characterise chip-based interferometers in the process. Their excitement and enthusiasm were truly infectious, making it a pleasure to guide them through their first hands-on experience with photonic chips. 📊 According to the UK's Photonics Leadership Group, the photonics sector is facing a significant shortage of skilled professionals, with a projected need for over 150,000 new employees by 2030. The quantum technology sector is also in high demand for skilled talent to drive innovation and growth. The #LightPort tackles this challenge head-on! We’re incredibly proud of the student’s achievements and look forward to seeing how they will contribute to the future of photonics and quantum technologies. A huge thank you to Zulekha S. and all the others involved in organising this great event, and to all the students for their enthusiasm and hard work! #QuantumComputing #Photonics #FutureEngineers #STEMEducation #LightTracePhotonics #LightPort #QuantumSkills #PhotonicsSkills #Engineering #Innovation

Fascinating last couple of days on the PIC Bootcamp Enthusiast stream at the University of Bristol — genuinely some of the most engaging training I've ever received! A great mix of academic and industry content, starting from fundamental theory and covering all the way up to where we can actually get PICs fabricated at what costs and timelines. I particularly found getting to have such a hands-on approach using the LightPort:Edu by Light Trace Photonics to be invaluable. There's only so much one can learn from textbooks and simulation — getting to actually play around with a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) myself made such a difference. A massive thank you to all those involved in putting together the bootcamp and congratulations on running such a successful course Innovate UK, CORNERSTONE, Bay Photonics, University of Bristol, Anchored In Ltd., Wave Photonics and Light Trace Photonics. #photonics #training #upskilling #quantum #photonicIntegratedCircuits
