🙏 Thank you to Ethan Ennals, Andrew Beaven & The Mail on Sunday [MailOnline] for raising awareness of the need for quicker diagnosis of young people with cancer. Ruby’s view would be that if it helps even one young person get an earlier diagnosis, it’s worth doing. Thanks to Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) for providing all the facts & stats for this article. Know the signs. And don’t take no for an answer. #rememberingruby #earlydiagnosis #teenagecancer #LiveKindlyLiveLoudly 💕

💕 This photo is from about exactly 1 year before Ruby got ill. It was a rare father & daughter day out. We went to Windsor for a canoe trip on the Thames and to check out the castle. The sun was shinning. We didn't go in the castle, we just walked around and made 😂 funny faces. Great memories. 🛶 Our Live Kindly Auction for Ruby to raise funds for Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) in her memory ends on Monday the 7th of October on what should have been her 23rd birthday. Loads of cool items to bid on. These would all be great gifts (maybe get that early X-Mas 🎄 shopping done?) or fun memory making experiences. ➡ Item 14: Papier mache bird wall art by Sandie Sutton --> https://lnkd.in/eWA2R4FR ➡ Item 16: £100 gift voucher for Sorens House a modern, natural design store for babies & children --> https://lnkd.in/eY5RMa5W ➡ Item 40: 🍻 Halloween Beer & Cider Festival tix x 4 --> https://lnkd.in/eU7_3SBx ➡ Item 41: Metalwork 1:1 workshop with Jacky Oliver --> https://lnkd.in/eR9GQYEw All proceeds will go directly to supporting vital research to find better treatments for children and young people with blood cancer. #bloodcancer #RememberingRuby #charityauction

💕 Ruby loved life. She enjoyed singing and watching musicals. She enjoyed art and travel. She was a thrift & vintage clothes shopper. This is a photo of her from a short family break to Edinburgh where she indulged all of the above. She is pictured in her favourite cold weather coat with a 'retro ski vibe' (IMHO), that was a great vintage store find. In her memory we continue to raise funds for teenage #cancerresearch. You can help by bidding on any of the great items or experiences on offer (and a BIG thanks 🙏 to all the people who have made donations!). Here's a suggested selection to inspire you on a wet Wednesday morning. #charityauction ➡ Lot 20 Brockwell Park pond painting, near her childhood home: https://lnkd.in/eT9iTTcW ➡ Lot 23 vintage Liberty scarf: https://lnkd.in/eagHWMD2 ➡ Lot 36 tickets to see the musical Tina: https://lnkd.in/eiJE7ibU ➡ Lot 43 silver seashore inspired bangle: https://lnkd.in/ef9ZtTb7 ➡ Lot 59 His Dark Materials (TV show) signed bundle: https://lnkd.in/eZdM2Md4 All proceeds will go directly to supporting vital research to find better treatments for children and young people with blood cancer. There's nothing like spending 50 hours knitting the average temperature over the past 100 years to make you appreciate how dramatically our world is warming. I'm not really a knitter - but this scarf was a labour of love, created for a fundraising auction in memory of our eco-warrior daughter Ruby, who would have been turning 23 next week. Her life was cut short by leukaemia. All proceeds from the online auction will go directly to support research to find better treatments for blood cancer, via Ruby's Live Kindly, Live Loudly - Cancer Research Fund with Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG). The scarf brings Ed Hawkins' brilliant Climate Stripes concept to life; 100 stripes, representing average UK temperatures from 1923 (on the left) to 2023 (on the right). If you'd be interested in placing a bid, it's Lot 21 - here's the link: https://lnkd.in/exV34b5Q Bidding closes next Monday, 7th October. Grateful for any shares. #ClimateStripes #CCAM #RememberingRuby #ShowYourStripes

Are you curious to know how Ruby's Fund is supporting vital research? This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we asked the @LJRussell_Lab team (who received our first grant) if they could give us a quick overview of their work. Here's what they told us ⬇️ Thank you to Lisa and her team for helping us create this video: Lisa Russell, Letizia Marchetti, Ahmed Alsayadi & Camille Drai And huge thanks to Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) for ensuring the funds raised by all their Special Named Funds supports world class research like this. #ccam #worldcancerresearchday #rememberingruby

We’re forever grateful to the anonymous stranger who donated his stem cells to Ruby. And today on World Marrow Donor Day we’re thinking of him & all the other wonderful people who donated their stem cells over the years. Saving thousands of lives as a result. We’ll never know who it was. All we know is that he was a 33 year old British man who had at some point signed up to the stem cell registry. He received a call in December 2019 to say that it looked like he was a match for a young person whose only chance of survival was to receive his cells and would he please donate. And he said yes ❤️ It gave Ruby her only chance of survival. And it gave us all hope. This is a photo of Ruby receiving her transplant, back in January 2020. Sadly it wasn’t to be: Ruby’s cancer was too aggressive. But it gave her a few more incredibly precious months with us ❤️ If you haven’t already, please consider signing up to the stem cell registry. Each of us has about a one in a million chance of being matched with a stranger, so we need as many people as possible on that registry to give people with blood cancer the best chance of survival. It’s quick and easy to sign up, and it could literally save a life. The likelihood of a transplant being successful decreases with the age of the donor, so having young (16-30) people on the register is particularly important. Huge thanks also to the wonderful charities that operate the donor registers - Anthony Nolan & DKMS UK 🙏❤️ #WorldMarrowDonorDay #wmdd2024

Huge thanks to Suzanne Pink (pictured top right) & Isobel Wells (main pic) for taking on the Great North Run & raising over £1600 for Ruby’s Fund! 👏👏👏
A huge thank you to our incredible #TeamCCLG Great North Run runners! On September 8, 10 amazing runners took on the Great North Run, going above and beyond to support childhood cancer research by raising funds for CCLG and our Special Named Funds. Together, they’ve raised over £4,500! 👏 Their dedication, determination, and hard work will help us continue to support families and fund vital research. We’re so proud of each one of them for their amazing efforts, as well as the generosity of everyone who supported our runners. Together, we can change the future for children with cancer 🎗 #CCLG #GreatNorthRun #ChildhoodCancer #ChildhoodCancerResearch #CCAM #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth #ChildhoodCancerAwareness

Yesterday, in the middle of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Ruby's Mum & a team of 13 of her colleagues from climate action charity Ashden completed the Thames Bridges Trek - 25km crossing 16 of London's bridges. The weather was fabulous, and the team left hand-painted pebbles for Ruby, carrying her motto Live Kindly Live Loudly, on each of the bridges. They raised an astonishing £10k for Ruby's research fund with Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) which is absolutely fantastic. Huge thanks to Joanna Walton, Sue Wheat, Cindi Blunt, Will Walker, Catherine True, Suzanne Gibbon, Alison Lasenby, Tara Choudhury, Anita Henderson, Francesca Tute, Matthew Ahluwalia, Sarah Mills & Isona Shibata for their incredible fundraising - and to all of our sponsors. The event was brilliantly organised by Action Challenge - huge thanks to all their staff for making it such a smooth and very enjoyable day. If anyone fancies taking on a fundraising challenge, Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) have a huge range of events you can choose from. Drop us a line if you'd like to know more. #ThamesBridgesTrek #ChildCancerAwarenessMonth #CCAM
