  • Tony is running the London Landmarks Half Marathon with a FRIDGE on his back to raise money for projects to improve lives in and around Plymouth 🏃🏽♂️

Director of Risk UK, USA & Middle East at Denholm Energy Services

Firstly I would like to thank Industrial Air Power (Relay) in Avonmouth, for mounting my fridge onto a frame in preparation for my half marathon on April 6th. Secondly,I am overwhelmed at the level of support and donations made while taking the fridge up and down the Pen Y Fan, this morning. Comparing mental health struggles to carrying a fridge up the Pen Y Fan can be a powerful metaphor to illustrate the challenges many face. Equating mental health struggles to carrying a fridge up a mountain helps to illustrate the weight, challenges, and complexities involved in managing mental health. It emphasizes the importance of support, the value of tools and strategies, and the need for compassion—both for oneself and for others who may be on a similar journey. By fostering understanding and support, we can help lighten the load for those who are struggling. On the 6th April I run the London Landmark Half Marathon, with the fridge and therefore I’m trying to make a push for more donations for the Livewell Foundation that run charitable projects like supporting woman’s mental health and supporting children with brain injuries. If you can donate, then please do and if you can’t then can you please share this post. • Pro-tips on taking care of yourself from some our brilliant colleagues on Mental Health Nurses' Day 💙 Kirsty: I'm the Deputy Manager of the Older People’s Mental Health Functional Team. I’m proud to be a Mental Health Nurse, particularly with those aged 65+ experiencing mental health difficulties. To ensure my own mental health remains settled, I get outdoors! I have set myself a challenge to walk the entire Southwest Coastal Path (little by little!) I encourage the team to make time for self-care too, and that would be my main message to others – you can’t pour from an empty cup.     Karl and Richard are both Senior Mental Health Practitioners within the First Response Service, providing urgent mental health crisis support via the NHS 111 helpline 24/7. Outside of work, Karl keeps busy as a musician, playing in a local band, while Richard is an avid live music fan - what a duo! Nita: After 40 years as a Mental Health Nurse, I am now working as an Advanced Health Improvement Practitioner within the Wellbeing Team. I feel lucky to work in a place where my skills and knowledge around mental health are valued. Looking after our mental health means being kind to yourself and having compassion for others around you. It’s about those meaningful connections we make throughout our lives, and prioritising our own self care. It is also about what is important in the scheme of things, and not about being hung up on things you cannot control. I have found that getting older really helps you put things into perspective. Sarah: I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse at the Lee Mill Unit. Lee Mill works with men who have chronic and complex mental health difficulties who are often disadvantaged and marginalised. I have worked at Lee Mill for 14 years, starting as a band 2 on the bank to becoming the Team Manager in 2020. Over this time, I have been privileged to work with so many staff who have really made a difference. I am often asked by potential interviewees why I stay at Lee Mill and it is because I enjoy working with a team who are so invested in the patient group and who celebrate each success, no matter how small. I am also passionate about working alongside this patient group, identifying their goals, working step by step and witnessing changes in their trust and hope for the future. Being a nurse is a very rewarding vocation, and I am proud of the work we do.   #MHNursesDay #MentalHealth #Nursing

  • Congratulations to Approved Mental Health Professional Lucy Turner who has been selected as the winner of the ‘Love Where You Live and Work’ competition for colleagues at Livewell Southwest 👏 She took this brilliant photograph outside the Livewell offices in Crownhill in Plymouth 🦌 We had lots of beautiful pictures from colleagues showing what they do in their spare time or the views from where they work. They were used on our website and social media channels as part of a recruitment campaign to attract the best people to join Team Livewell. Lucy said: “Love that the beautiful deer come to visit us at work!” Chief Operating Officer Ian Lightley presented Lucy with a £50 M&S voucher. The canvas of her photograph will go on display in the offices at Crownhill Court. You can see all the pics here ➡ https://lnkd.in/efETntmq
