✨ We've got big news ✨ We’re delighted to announce that Baseimmune has joined us at the Apex. 🎉 Baseimmune will occupy 3,350 sq ft of lab and office space in our new fully fitted, grow-on space at the Apex building, within the Tribeca located in the King's Cross Knowledge Quarter. This is one of two pre-lets and brings LBIC’s pre-let occupancy at the Apex to 35%. Joshua Blight, CEO and Co-Founder of Baseimmune, said: “We couldn’t be more excited about our expansion to the Apex. In a market where the availability of lab estate is growing, it is the team behind the space which enables a rapidly growing startup to succeed. Aligning with the best team is one of the keys to success and for us that’s the experienced team at LBIC.” Dr Rich Ferrie PhD RTTP, LBIC CEO, shared, “We place a high value on our existing relationship with the founding team at Baseimmune and I am delighted that they have chosen to drive the next phase of their growth at our fantastic new Apex facility. We are thrilled at how the market is responding and we will be making further announcements on progress in the lead up to launch later this year." In honour of Black History Month UK 2024 and this year’s theme, Reclaiming Narratives, we’d like to take a moment to recognise Chelsee, our brilliant Operations Administrator. 🙌🏽✨ Since joining LBIC in January 2023, Chelsee has become invaluable to our team, ensuring everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. With a First Class BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, she’s also breaking barriers as a woman of colour in STEM. She shares, "I’ve always had a passion for science, initially Biology, but when I started my GCSEs, I realised how much more I enjoyed Chemistry. I never felt limited or unable to be part of STEM, but when I began job hunting after university, I noticed there weren’t many people who looked like me in these fields. At first, that made me feel a little out of place, but I didn’t let it stop me. I explored various science-focused roles and found that I enjoy not only the scientific work, but also the people-centered aspects outside the lab. The nature of my role at LBIC allows me to meet new people while still being in a scientific environment, which is one of the best parts. As someone who loves learning and challenges, I am looking forward to everything I’ll learn and achieve here at LBIC." Chelsee always brings a bright smile and warm presence to our clients and the team. Thank you, Chelsee, for your incredible contributions to LBIC and for showing the next generation they belong in every space—whether it’s a lab space or any other! 👩🏾⚕️🔬 #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM #WomenInSTEM #LifeScience

Where Science Meets Fashion. ✨🔬 Today marks two years since Bella Hadid made headlines at the Coperni SS23 Paris Fashion Week, where she walked the runway in a viral spray-on dress. This moment was the result of two decades of innovation led by Dr. Manel Torres, founder of Fabrican Limited. Inspired by Silly String, Fabrican created a spray-on fabric that forms instantly on any surface. With just 1.5 litres of spray, a dress is created. The material is washable, reusable, and biodegradable, offering real potential to reduce the fashion industry's environmental impact. 🌍 Reflecting on that iconic moment, Manel shared with us: “Fabrican has the ability to make something impossible possible through science and fashion.” His commitment to innovation continues to push boundaries, with Fabrican’s technology now expanding into fields such as medical bandages, spray-on bio-based materials, and environmental solutions. 🌱 We're proud to support Fabrican's journey in developing innovative solutions for positive impact, right here at LBIC. 🧬 🎬 Watch the full story here: https://lnkd.in/e7zdksda #ParisFashionWeek #PFW #SustainableFashion #Innovation #PFW

We couldn't not share this. 💜 Ori Biotech did a fantastic job hosting some special guests at LBIC for 'Kids Day.' The future of life science is looking promising. 🔬
👩🔬👨🔬 Earlier this month, we welcomed some very special guests to our lab at London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC) Jason C. Foster, Farlan Singh Veraitch, Claire Horlock, Matt Todd, Rachel Garsed, Derek Bean and Christopher Rowe's children joined us for 'Kids Day'. They got a glimpse into what it's like being a scientist, learning about the science behind what we do and how it's shaping the future of advanced therapies. With lab-based activities and IRO® demos it was a great way to introduce the next generation to the fascinating world of biotech. And if their enthusiasm was anything to go by, these future innovators might very well be leading our next breakthroughs! #ManufacturingBrighterFutures #CellTherapy #GeneTherapy #PatientAccess #Biotechnology
