This week, Tricia Cusden, 76, has co-written her blog with Amelia Knight, our senior brand and content manger, who at 23, is our youngest team member. Amelia tells her story of how she came to work at a makeup brand aimed at older women and Tricia talks about the benefits of an age diverse workforce. Great to be featured in a recent article from The Telegraph about starting a business as a an older person featuring Tricia and Look Fabulous Forever. According to Enterprise Nation, 35% of new British businesses are started by people over 50 with the average age being 46. And according to research from Penn State, a 50 year old entrepreneur is 1.8 times more likely to be successful than one in their 30s. https://lnkd.in/eCXCvMCi

In her blog this week, Tricia explores themes raised by Andrew J Scott's latest book The Longevity Imperative, which proposes a radical rethink of the ways that we structure and live our whole lives in order to prepare for the possibility of them lasting for eighty or ninety years. Scott has called it an ‘imperative’ because, as an economist, he sees its salience as similar or even more important than climate change in the challenges that it poses. At the moment we see old age as a period of low productivity (in terms of paid employment) and of increasing ill-health. Both individually and as a society we need to do much better and in ‘The Longevity Imperative’ Scott sets out his vision for a very different future. He proposes that rather than seeing our lives as a three distinct blocks - one of education, one of work and then one of retirement, we will need to imagine a live where we have periods of study, work and rest throughout our life in order than we can continue to live a productive, fulfilling and economically viable life. We are delighted to announce that Graham McGregor is the new managing director of Creative Cosmetics Ltd. He has joined the business following 20 years at Kirker Europe, a custom manufacturer of nail lacquer and nail care treatment products.  As well as nail polish, he brings general expertise in colour technology having led Kirker's technical team before being promoted to managing director in 2021. At Creative Cosmetics he will be working alongside Katarina Kozlikova who has recently joined the business as a colour formulation expert. Having acquired Creative Cosmetics in June of this year, we are excited about the future of the business and it's position as one of the few colour cosmetics manufacturers in the UK specialising in small MOQs and shorter lead times.
