🌟 Thrilled to be back at LSE to talk about the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)'s Intangible Assets Project! 🌟 It was a pleasure to return to LSE, where I spent 13 years as a faculty member in the LSE Department of Accounting, for the Accounting Research Exchange. I really enjoyed engaging with students and industry experts on "Innovation Through an Accounting Lens." A big thank you to Dr Furkan Mustafa Çetin for putting together this insightful event. It was great to be on the panel with Dr Pinar Gencer and Yigit Akay , discussing the impact of financial reporting on innovation and sharing updates from the IASB's project on Intangible Assets. How does financial reporting affect innovation? High-quality accounting standards help reduce information asymmetry between companies and investors, facilitating efficient capital allocation and stimulating innovation. What's the evidence? In his paper, Dr. Çetin showed that after applying the new revenue recognition requirements, innovative companies experienced a net decline in information asymmetry, raised more equity capital, and expanded R&D investments. #IASBAcademic

📗ECGI Working Paper The Value of Dissent: Market Reaction to Voting Intention Disclosures: https://lnkd.in/geU74bAZ 👥Authors 💠 Tzu-Ting Chiu, Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) 💠 Xi Li, The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) 💠 Rusha Nandy, Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) 💠 Simone Traini, Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) This study explores stock market reactions to dissent voting intentions publicly disclosed by Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) before portfolio firms' AGMs. Findings show positive abnormal returns, especially for firms with weaker governance, higher NBIM ownership, or key governance-related proposals. The results indicate that investors perceive NBIM’s dissent as value-enhancing, reinforcing the importance of institutional investor transparency. #ECGIWP SSRN #CorpGov #InstitutionalInvestors #ShareholderActivism
