Thank you very much to Katarina Dart, Clémence Rozier, Clyde Tabiner, Connie Ng and Charles W. Guiral from Cartier for hosting some of our students at their New Bond Street boutique. Students were lucky enough to receive a tour of the Maison, where they learnt about the history of Cartier and had a glimpse at some of the jewellery on display. They also learnt about Cartier’s values, notably their dedication to female empowerment and sustainability, as well as an insight into their graduate programmes and apprenticeships. 🆕 We are delighted to share that a team of colleagues from the Department of Management have recently published a new business case study titled: '2U or not 2U: GetSmarter's Edtech Expansion Beyond South Africa'. 🎓Dr Christine Cote, Associate Professor (Education) of International Business, Professor Saul Estrin, Emeritus Professor of Management Economics and Strategy, and Katie Nunner, former LSE Research Associate and Alum (MSc Development Management, 2016), published the case focused on the South African startup firm GetSmarter and its global success within the Edtech (educational technology) industry. This case was written following company visits to GetSmarter, a South African Edtech startup, during the LSE Executive Global Master's in Management (EGMiM) student's study visit to Cape Town as part of the programme's core course on International Business Strategy and Emerging Markets. 📖Read more: https://bit.ly/4hCCx2C #LSEManagement #PartofLSE #LSEResearch

💡Today we were delighted to welcome Andrew Young, LSE’s Chief Operating Officer, to our BSc Operations Management Course for an insightful discussion on LSE’s operations. 🎤 In a fascinating interview, led by Dr Nayat Horozoglu, Assistant Professor (Education) of Management, Andrew covered a range of topics, including his journey to COO at LSE, his role and what he does, how operations at LSE aim for excellence, and where sustainability fits into LSE’s operations. By drawing back the curtain of LSE, Andrew provided real-world insights for our undergraduate students on the operation of a large organisation, and addressed questions directly from students on: ✅ How his role compares to that of a COO of a large corporation. ✅ Specific LSE operations, such as timetabling, disability and wellbeing services, and sustainability initiatives. ✅ What the most challenging decision he has had to make in his role is. We are hugely grateful to Andrew for sharing some of his valuable time to come and speak to our students! #LSEManagement #PartofLSE

LSE Department of Management reposted this
The popular saying, “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life,” suggests that pursuing work based on your passion eliminates the potential drudgery of labour. This idea may have inspired many to pursue meaningful work, but empirical evidence on its validity has been scarce until now. A study by Shoshana Dobrow and Heather Kappes from LSE Department of Management and Professor Jennifer Tosti-Kharas sets out to test some of the fundamental assumptions inherent in advice as well as theory about experiencing a “calling” towards your work: https://ow.ly/U54H50Vba8X Do you find your work meaningful?
