We extend our congratulations to Executive MPA alumnus Guillaume Cravero (EMPA Class of 2017) on his recent appointment as Head of Sustainability and Public Affairs Managing Director at Ardian, a leading global private investment firm managing or advising on $177 billion in assets. Please join us in recognizing Guillaume’s achievement in the comments section. The EMPA draws participants from both public and private sectors, bringing together professionals who share a commitment to effecting positive societal change. Guillaume exemplifies this ethos with his distinguished career in global and European affairs, public policy, sustainability, and management. In addition to his role at Ardian, he has served as an advisor to the French Minister of Labour and contributed to the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds initiative. Furthermore, he has co-authored a book titled "Creative Attitude" (Dunod), which explores creativity within organizations. Read Guillaume’s thoughts on the EMPA and how it has impacted his career: My commitment to evidence-based policy led me to pursue the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) at the LSE. This programme provided me with a rigorous foundation in policy analysis, governance, and economics, helping me refine my ability to assess and design impactful public policies as part of my policy-oriented roles. I gained proficiency in statistical modelling, impact evaluation, and strategic decision-making, reinforcing my analytical capabilities in a policymaking context. During my time on the EMPA, I particularly liked the interdisciplinary nature of the programme, which combined with a cohort of impressive global professionals from all around the world, deepened my understanding of regulatory frameworks and economic development strategies. This was intense and what I liked the most was the deep dive into research papers, while preparing for our assignments and essays. That was so empowering and intellectually elevating. I still use the LSE evidence-based approach because Ardian is a data-driven company that uses evidence to create value and drive sustainability performance. The EMPA could not have been more appropriate, and I wish there were more links between the academic and professional worlds, especially in private equity. I highly recommend the programme to public sector and business professionals, including those in the investment sector, because of the increasing interconnection between public policy and business agendas, as companies must better analyse and understand their working environment. This is the question that 'The Regulatory Diplomacy and Cybersecurity Initiative,' a new applied research and policy programme at the LSE School of Public Policy in partnership with Microsoft and the Charter of Trust, seeks to answer.
