The Bascule bridge located in Swansea, was pivotal to the area’s time as the world copper capital and is a unique part of Swansea’s industrial heritage. Bascule bridge was built in 1909 to carry materials and waste between the two copper works on either side of the River Tawe. The main river span was removed in 2019, however the remaining abutment sections that remained were significantly deteriorated and unstable. Lt scaffold were appointed to install a 2 phase cantilevered support scaffold, the scaffold enabled IRATA trained rope access technicians to dismantle the remaining bridge sections piece by piece. 1330mm Asterix HD BEAMS were utilised to achieve this particular cantilever support scaffold, the cantilever was restrained by 7 tonnes of kentledge placed at the rear as per the design drawing. A pleasure to be a part of, the restoration of this wonderful survivor of Swansea’s industrial history. Lewis Smith Mark Declaire Anthony Browne Scott Mackie

LT Scaffold we’re tasked with supplying access to Cardiff’s main gas pipe for inspections and maintenance. One of many gas pipes erected this year. This one in particular we faced issues we have never dealt with previously due to the ground being “too soft” to base scaffolding on, especially with the increased loads from the beam span. With no concrete or steel to work with, LT called upon the services of No More Digging Wales 🏴. Working closely with the team and Rob Pearce TAD | Scaffold Designs, we collectively designed the scaffold to be supported using 2m long ground screws. These screws were tested prior to the erection of scaffold to take the vertical and horizontal loads. All screws successfully passed and were given the green light to proceed with the scaffolding. On dismantle of the scaffold, the screws will just simply be taken out and re-used on another project leaving zero damage to the ground. Big thank you to Lloyd Smith and Wayne Fundalski of No More Digging Wales 🏴. Not only did they install the screws but their dedicated team delivered all of the scaffold materials using a quad bike and trailer as vehicle access was not an option. Special thanks to Rob Pearce for his professionalism as always.

LT Scaffold Services LTD reposted this
So, here we are showcasing our latest completed project at the Swansea Arena Multistorey Carpark, for our client LT Scaffold Services LTD The last few years we have wrapped and re-wrapped this project several times at various stages and in various sections, this time around a full encapsulation top to bottom including the centre core shaft. it is worth noting that the south/west elevation 3rd & 4th, and south/east elevation 2nd "ring" are over 2 years old since 1st installation and still in pretty good condition considering the 14 named and significant storms it endured last winter alone, trying to tie-into weathered wrap can be tricky nevertheless we made it work. The north core was to far gone to salvage and was fully replaced. A special thanks goes out to Anthony Browne and the entire management team from LT Scaffold Services LTD for their sublime support and gigantic efforts to make this latest episode a success. Thank you!
