What a week last week was! I really thought lunch! - The definitive event for the café, coffee shop & food-to-go sector. was one of the best years ever, whilst probably in a semi-selfish way, but also through some of the innovation on display. It was my first attendance since going solo, and so the dynamic was fundamentally different anyway. I left exhausted from all of the walking and talking, but was buzzing with excitement and inspiration. That has transpired this week into some incredible business conversations and hopefully starting to shift the "I'm not good enough" monkey on my back! There was some outstanding innovation on display, and thank you to Katie Tyler for inviting me on the Innovation Award judging panel with the incredible Ali Lyons, Will Kenney, Edyta Stec and Danny SCOBIE amongst others. The quality of the finalists was unbelievably good. Some hugely memorable stand outs from Joshua Daley and Edward van der Lande with 2 products that really do have the power to become massive, whilst contributing good into the world! It left me with a greater feeling that a huge wind of change coming in the Food To Go sector across all channels. More consumer focused and more values driven and more data smart than ever. In 18 months, the space could be looking very different. Whether its seeing amazing brands like Jake and Nayns' Simply Lunch and VITHIT growing their stand footprint each year, and bringing more and more innovation to the table, or exploring mind-blowing solutions like the incredible Axon Vibe, Cybake bakery software and Flexeserve, its hard not to see something big coming. I'm excited to be back on the road next week, building on great discussions, and seeing how this can begin to translate into real change out there in the market.
