*Introducing Michael* — BIM Technician at Shft. Venturing deeper into the world of #BuildingInformationModelling, Michael shares, “I feel that one of the most satisfying parts of working in this field is knowing that you are providing something useful and tangible within a discipline that has a lot of complexity. “I first found a route to BIM through architectural design and, later, the technical delivery of projects. I was impressed at how the software used for BIM was superior to traditional CAD when it came to technical design and project coordination. “I wanted the opportunity to work in a team with a very specific purpose geared towards BIM; I wanted to develop my software skills and refine my existing industry knowledge with people who are passionate about the industry.” We’re equally thrilled to have him join the team. 🎉 Get in touch with us today to learn how BIM can enhance your next construction project, just as Michael described here! #building #digitalconstruction #buildingconstruction #construction #constructionindustry #constructionmanagement #contractors #design #buildinginformationmodeling #bim #outsource #outsourcing #aec #aecindustry

There's such an incredible community created by Women in BIM where we all share ideas, thoughts, mentorship and more throughout the year. Yesterday, Michelle had the pleasure of attending this years #WIB conference and engaging with some great industry leaders. The #WIBConfLondon2024 was a day of fantastic speakers and intriguing topics around the future of our built environment and its digitisation.

What a fantastic day yesterday at the #WIBConfLondon2024 at 116 Pall Mall! It was inspiring to see the number of members from around the world focussing on digitisation and pushing our industry forwards. I thoroughly enjoyed the panel discussion lead by @James Austen of Autodesk, where Dr Clair Morris, Dr Victoria Fillingham, Drew Waller and Charlotte-Frances Garrett shared their insights on AI and its potential to drive change while discussing the importance of well-structured data and human connection and what this means to our current workforce, resources, and skillsets. It was also great to catch up with some work colleagues, Cristina and Veronica and to hear Francesca's take on Generative AI and its impact on her daily workflows and project outputs at ISG. 💡 It all comes down to data and how we structure this to unlock its potential. A big thank you to Marie Grieve for the invitation and welcome to a wonderful event. Looking forward to the next one! ✨ #womeninbim #AEC #empowering #digitalskills, #datadriven #WIBConfLondon2024 #AI

BIM is not just an added deliverable—it’s a complete overhaul of how contractors work on construction projects. As the construction industry continues to change, we will see even more transformations in our existing processes. One big question that looms over construction professionals: how will AI automation impact the future of construction? 🤔 AI-driven tools, like Text to BIM, are giving access to advanced design capabilities and changing how teams contribute to projects. The most common misconception we’ve heard about #BIM from other professionals in the construction industry is this: “BIM is just a 3D Model.” This couldn’t be farther from the truth! ❌ From our experience as BIM providers, we do far more than produce a model; our services encompass technical design and information management, along with the generation of primary models and construction drawing packages. By working alongside our customers’ existing teams, we ensure that every aspect of the construction process benefits from our digital expertise. In fact, we see ourselves as empowering customers to leverage Building Information Modelling to drive their business forward. This allows them to focus on what they do best while we take care of the digital complexities for them. Reach out if you’d like to understand how! 💬 #ConstructionTech #AEC #BuildingInformationManagement #BuildingInformationModelling #ConstructionTechnology #DigitalConstruction

There's so much value in industry events like Digital Construction Week #DCW2024. And we mean more than the obvious value to be had from a chock-full programme of talks and seminars by experts in their trade, although that's definitely a big factor. Events like these take us out of our offices and worksites, bringing us together with others from different environments. They open us up to new networks, fresh ideas, and innovative ways of working. Perhaps most importantly: they let others know who we are and what, exactly, our place is in the industry, as well as who we serve. Simply put, it gives our brand greater visibility. And we don't need to be marketing experts to know what that could mean for business down the line. 📅 What's the next industry event on *your* calendar? Let us know if any should be on our radar too for the next half of the year!

Co-founder at Shft | I help brilliant-but-overstretched contractors get BIM done to the highest standards, so they can focus on what they do best—building for tomorrow.

Looking back on Digital Construction Week #DCW2024, I'd say the key takeaway for me was being in a space teeming with industry experts from all sorts of backgrounds and disciplines that come together under the umbrella of #digitalconstruction. Unfortunately, I missed Philip and Cristina's talk on preparing for the building data journey—I heard they knocked it out of the park. But I thoroughly enjoyed Huda's take on how a digital backbone has the power to address broad challenges inherent in construction projects in her talk 'Digital Backbone: The Bridge to Disrupt the Asset Lifecycle'. What resonated most with me is the importance of a holistic and unified approach to your digital strategy across the entire asset lifecycle. Over the years, I've experienced both sides of this story. I firmly believe it's where so much value is eroded or gained. It was also great to connect with Cristina, Matt, Darren, Thomas, Anthony, Ryno, Owen, Roman, and Jose and hear about their role in advancing our construction industry. Always a pleasure to talk #construction and #bim with other professionals in the industry!

In the construction sector, like any other evolving industry, people always have differing perspectives on hot topics. ♨️ While husband-and-wife duo Michelle and Jacques each bring their unique skills and individual viewpoints to the table at Shft, they certainly agree on one thing: their definition of #BIM. At Shft, we view BIM as Building Information Management. On the other hand, many in the industry see the acronym as Building Information Modelling. While this isn’t wrong, #BuildingInformationManagement looks at the bigger picture of how construction teams strategically manage information throughout a building’s life cycle. Keen to know more about the difference between the two? Check out Michelle’s views in her interview below! #BuildingConstruction #Construction #ConstructionIndustry #ConstructionManagement #ConstructionTech #DigitalConstruction #AEC #BIM #BuildingInformationManagement #BuildingInformationModelling #Contractors #Subcontractors

Knowledge and Software Proficiency—two of the most important elements to Building Information Modelling success. 📚💾 Transitioning from 2D to 3D requires expertise. If you don’t have the knowledge behind the software, your design quality is bound to suffer. Construction companies whose primary expertise lies in traditional construction methods, timely material deliveries, and on-site work execution can still thrive in today’s digital landscape! 🖥️ Whether we are working with contractors or subcontractors, our mission is to bridge the digital gap by: ➕ Boosting design accuracy ➕ Facilitating effective collaboration ➕ Reducing high-stakes risks ➕ Improving project outcomes for all parties concerned so we can add value throughout the supply chain. Get in touch if this is what you need on your next #constructionproject: PS: In case you missed it, Michelle dives deeper into the significant benefits of BIM in construction in her Bricks & Bytes podcast interview. ⬇️ #BuildingConstruction #Construction #ConstructionIndustry #ConstructionManagement #Contractors #ConstructionTechnology #DigitalConstruction #AEC #BIM #BuildingInformationManagement #BuildingInformationModelling #Subcontractors
