𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 Big City Bright Future 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗼! 🎉   Yesterday marked the final day of our #BCBF internship, an initiative by IntoUniversity, and what an incredible journey it has been! This week, our interns met with teams across Risk, HR, Legal, Middle Office, Back Office, Python Development, IT Infrastructure, Trading Application Support, Technology, and Finance.   The #interns concluded their experience by delivering a presentation on everything they learned about Mako Trading and the various teams they interacted with. It was fantastic to hear our roles described from a student's perspective, and we were happy to see how much they had absorbed. At the end of the presentation, each intern shared their future #career aspirations and expressed their love for Mako's #culture, with many saying they could see themselves joining our team in the future. 𝗠𝗶𝗱-𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗼! 🚀 Our #BCBF interns, from IntoUniversity's Big City Bright Future programme, have had an amazing journey so far, & we're eager to share their progress with you! Last week, we kicked off with a warm welcome & a tour of our #London office. The interns gained valuable insights into Mako's diverse roles & had the chance to meet our CEO, Trystan Morgan Schauer. They participated in sessions on compliance & recruitment & learned about our early #careers programme. Delving into the complex world of #trading, they met our Short End & Eurostoxx teams, followed by sessions with Dividend Delta, Index Prop, EU Single Stocks, & AMM. The interns then met our brilliant reception team to learn about facilities & event planning, followed by a marketing & communications session to test their #creative skills. They ended the week with Data Systems Support & Tactical Development, & a session on business development. After just one week, the interns are already gaining clarity on their career interests & actively seeking guidance from different team members to ask more questions & gain further insights. Our day session was a deep dive into the essential concepts of financial #markets. We explored #marketmaking and variance, crucial tools for effective pricing and positioning strategies. Thanks to the students' firm grasp on #options theory, we were able to move quickly through practical applications, making markets in call options based on dynamic dice rolls. The enthusiasm and engagement from the students reflected their solid understanding of market dynamics and trading principles. In the afternoon, we focused on #delta hedging, utilising #Python and #data analysis to tackle the complexities. The students rose to the challenge, producing insightful analyses on hedging efficiency! 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. Our team had the opportunity to ride in some of the most iconic cars ever built, and more importantly, contribute to raising significant funds for vulnerable children in East Africa. The raised sum of over £200,000 will continue fuelling the transformational work of WeSeeHope, making every moment behind the wheel count! 📌 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑫𝒖𝒓𝒉𝒂𝒎 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting Durham University Business School for the 2nd consecutive year, engaging with Level 5 & Level 7 #finance students. This visit was another testament to the solid programme our partners at ZISHI have developed! The day kicked off with an introduction to #marketmaking & two-way pricing, filled with interactive activities like shouting out prices & taking on positions. We then progressed to pricing call options using probability theory. A networking lunch provided an opportunity for #students to connect with our team. The afternoon session was a deep dive into #quantitative trading & data analysis using #Python, focusing on delta hedging scenarios. The group worked in teams, & the multi-disciplinary #collaboration between our traders & technologists was excellent; something we value highly at Mako Trading! Welcome to our 2024 Big City Bright Future (BCBF) interns! 🎉 Tomorrow, Monday, 8th July, we extend a warm welcome to the students joining us from the Big City Bright Future (BCBF) programme. 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 - 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖! As part of our outreach work, we have been keen participants in the Big City Bright Future (BCBF) programme, which will be taking place in person at our London office. The scheme is aimed at 2nd year A-level students and is a two-week internship with the aim of allowing students to accelerate their career pathway by providing outstanding work experience before university. The students will be rotating across the company to get an idea of the different departments and roles that make up our business. Today, we're engaging with finance students at Durham University Business School, where our team is providing deep dives into industry insights and a glimpse into life at Mako Trading. Building on the previous year's achievements, Zishi has returned with the Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Financial Trading for #undergraduates, and has introduced the Level 7 Diploma in Applied Financial Trading for finance #postgraduates. We've already heard that the feedback received from students has been incredible and the day is not over yet! 𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯... Our collaborative journey next week leads us to the University of Bath School of Management, where Zishi is delivering the Level 7 trading qualification to finance postgraduates. The week after, we'll be at the University of Reading for another immersive day packed with invaluable insights. In August, we'll be at Sheffield Business School, where #Zishi will be delivering the Level 5 trading qualification programme to students from multi-academic undergraduates and postgraduates backgrounds. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦'𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦... As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing #talent and bridging the educational gap, we have these exciting programmes lined up: ▶ Big City Bright Future : Kicking off next week, this initiative is aimed at 2nd year ‘A’ level #students to accelerate their #career pathway by providing work experience before university. During this two-week internship, participants will explore various roles within our company, gaining hands-on experience that deepens their understanding of the #fintech sector. ▶ 2024 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 : The following week, we kick-off our 2024 Virtual #Internship Programme, where our interns embark on a 6-week educational journey. This programme introduces them to the basics of #trading and #technology; covering options theory, financial modeling, coding, and systems engineering.
