Founded in 2004 by Marcus Barnett, multi award-winning MBS has developed a reputation for creating stunning gardens and landscapes and is considered one of the leading landscape architects in the country. With studios in London and Hampshire, we are perfectly positioned for a variety of projects in the UK and overseas, including country estates, villas, vineyards, prestigious hotels, resorts and masterplanning. Central to the core narrative is the examination of contrasting themes like: strength and softness, natural intervention and geometric plan, romance and practical necessity. Biophilic design sits at the heart of our thinking. Using a restrained palette of elements, frequently drawn from local materials, traditions and plant communities, our work closely echoes the natural environment. We endeavour to harness the infinite capabilities of the plant kingdom with the ultimate aim of creating ‘ordered disorder’. Our landscapes sequester carbon from the atmosphere, filter air pollutants, increase biodiversity and assist with water management. This increases our capacity to mitigate against climate change whilst simultaneously creating restorative places to improve wellbeing and disconnect from our increasingly hectic lives.

Wiltshire, Marcus Barnett Studio (MBS), #Wiltshire, #England, 2019 . Large formal spaces were key to amplifying the design of this new build Palladian style house. A lawn bordered with clipped beech #hedges and cubes and perennial planting draws the eye to the cedar tree at the bottom of the site. The walled #garden has at its center a long water rill, and at one end a sunken fire pit and seating area overarched by multi stemmed tree and colourful planting . . Grandi spazi formali sono stati fondamentali per amplificare il progetto di questa nuova casa in stile palladiano. Un prato delimitato da #siepi e cubi di faggio topiato e piantagioni perenni attira l'attenzione sul cedro in fondo al sito.
