Consistency of impact without conformity of approach
About us
Maritime Academy Trust schools are located across Greenwich, Kent & Medway. Our mission is to empower schools with the means to drive ever greater and more enjoyable outcomes for children. Our school improvement model is based on a successful formula of partnerships and collaboration which has rapidly turned our schools around and embedded sustained improvement. At the heart of all Maritime schools is the idea that the curriculum can, and should, be delivered creatively and successfully. We believe: - Every child has the right to a phenomenal education - regardless of ability or background - Education is the best way to fight inequality - Each school is different, each child is different - Children learn best through creativity and innovation - and opportunities to make them the leaders - Our expectations are outstanding, but how you get there is different for every school - consistency of impact without conformity in approach - We can support people we believe in for a cause we believe in with relentless passion, perseverance, trust and a good sense of humour How do we do it? Collaborate: Within your school, across Maritime schools, and in other schools we work with. Innovate: Take these shared ideas and approaches and find new ways to make them work in your classrooms for your students. Educate: Break the barriers to learning so that each child is ready for the future. School should be a safe, happy, and effective place. What do we want in our schools? Happy, resilient children who are confident to give things a go, who are getting memorable experiences, in fantastic learning environments, with outstanding results to set them up for the next stage in their lives - being taught by dynamic teachers who love their work and working together.

In the second of our expert guides to mark ADHD Awareness Month, Lou Elliott, Speech & Language Therapist, and Behaviour Specialist at our special school, Danecourt, returns with tips for educators. If you work directly with children, we urge you to take a look - Lou's insight and advice is invaluable. In fact, Lou's first expert guide, which busted common ADHD myths, has been shared numerous times over on Facebook, and when putting these guides together, that was always our sole focus: to raise awareness and responsibly inform as many people as we can on exactly what ADHD is - and what it isn't. If you missed Lou's first post, please do go back and read it on our LinkedIn page. We promise you'll learn something! Thank you once again to Lou for giving us the knowledge to be even better advocates for and allies to those with ADHD. #MaritimeAcademyTrust #ADHDAwarenessMonth

We may already be about to end our first term of the academic year, but we're squeezing in one last weekly round-up from our schools! There's no denying that working in education and measuring life in terms seems to make time pass even more quickly. That's why we love pausing, taking the opportunity to look back over the week, and share what the pupils in each year group, across all our schools, have taken part in. Seeing our children immersed in their learning, and enjoying so many wonderful opportunities and experiences, serves as a fantastic reminder of exactly why we do what we do here at Maritime Academy Trust. Giving our children the best possible start in life is what motivates us! Here's just a snippet of what our pupils have been up to this week: 💙 Visited the Tower of London, The Science Museum and Greenwich 💙 Taken part in an assembly with 100 other schools to mark Black History Month 💙 Planted vegetables 💙 Created posters to raise awareness on pollution 💙 Made Greek-style vases, rainforest tapestries and Stone Henge artwork 💙 Researched mythical beasts using Chromebooks 💙 Practised number-lines with chalk on the playground 💙 Dressed as superheroes 💙 Headed to the farm 💙 Experimented with non-Newtonian fluid (feel free to Google, if needed!) For much, much more like this, we'll see you next term!... #MaritimeAcademyTrust #MaritimeWeeklyHighlights

What might you be getting wrong about ADHD? Whether it's navigating misinformation online, in conversations with peers, or even our own, hard-wired assumptions - perhaps based on past experiences or other people's opinions - chances are, we all need to educate ourselves better. This ADHD Awareness Month, the theme is 'awareness is key', and at Maritime Academy Trust, we support this wholeheartedly. We know that in order to create a more supportive and understanding environment for our pupils and the future generation, educating one another on what ADHD is - and, just as importantly, what it isn't - is crucial. In the first of two special posts this month, we asked Lou Elliott, Speech & Language Therapist and Behaviour Specialist at Danecourt School, to use her incredible wealth of knowledge, and help us sort fact from fiction. Next week, Lou will be back to provide educators with useful advice and practical tips on working with learners with ADHD. We hope you find it useful. #MaritimeAcademyTrust #ADHDAwarenessMonth #AwarenessIsKey

We're very proud to share that our brilliant Finance Manager, Lesley Colbert, is a finalist in this year's Education Today School & Suppliers Awards, nominated in the Business Manager/ Bursar of the Year category. Huge congratulations, Lesley! Whilst it goes without saying that Lesley is already a winner in our eyes, we're still very much looking forward to the award ceremony in London on the 6th December - wish us luck! #MaritimeAcademyTrust #EducationToday
