What an initiative. Engaging preteens and teenagers in fun ways to keep active and providing them with accurate advice and information to navigate growing up, to develop a life long positive relationship with exercise. This initiative will have a direct influence on our mission at Maternally Fit and we are so here for it!

How can you exercise a muscle if you don’t know where it is or what it does?! Get to know your Pelvic Floor Muscles! We educate all of our MatFit Mammas about the importance of pelvic floor strengthening during pregnancy and postnatal. See image below (credit to physiopedia). You might be surprised how many different muscles make up your pelvic floor. Functions of the Pelvic Floor - Support the pelvic organs that sit above them - Aid control of bladder and bowel function - Support sexual function As your baby grows the demand on the pelvic floor increases which is why daily pelvic floor muscle training is so important during pregnancy. These include quick, strong contractions and strong, 10s held contractions. Are you pregnant or postnatal and still have unanswered questions about your pelvic floor strength? Email us at info@maternallyfit.co.uk *Men have pelvic floor muscles too!
