📢 New Zealand Rocks 2024 - the results are in! 💻 Over 11,000 ākonga from across the country took part in our online 3-day tournament, named 'New Zealand Rocks', that put their ✖️➗ skills to the test. 🏆 The overall school winner, for the second year in a row, was Sherwood Primary School in Auckland; special mentions for second place Argyll East School in Central Hawkes Bay Kāhui Ako and third place Fitzroy Primary, who were fresh from their win in Taranaki Rocks the day before. 🌟 Shout out to the winning student, a 10 year old girl from Tuahiwi School in the Kaiapoi North Kāhui, who goes by the rock name 'Rudy D. Hendrix'. She finished way in front with a tournament-record score of 18,000 correct answers! 😲 Perhaps because it was NZ Maths Week or perhaps the word has got round, but we had double the number of schools (163) taking part this year and the feedback we got was mega-positive 🌟 "The tamariki loved the challenge of NZ Rocks!" - Ōuruhia Model School "It was great and our kids really enjoyed the competition." - Lakeview School I get the sense there's a real buzz around maths education in New Zealand at the moment. ____________ See comments for some of the results highlights.
