In the lead up to World Mental Health Day, we understand that it’s not just a day for those that live with a mental health condition. Through our delivery of the Access to Work Mental Health Support Service, we have already supported more than 30,000 people struggling with mental health conditions - by helping them to stay in or return to work. Over the coming week, we'll be raising awareness for all those affected by mental health conditions and how we can support in our #ItsNotJustADay campaign. Today Demos has launched a new report, supported by Maximus, addressing a lack of awareness of available employment support among disabled people and those with health conditions. It finds that at least one million people not currently in work would benefit from accessing disability or health-related employment support, yet the current system can be difficult to access and confusing to navigate. The report identifies a number of critical ‘engagement points’ as opportunities to refer individuals to the appropriate support programmes at the right time, working on the principle ‘the earlier the better’. Doing so could add 130,000 people to the UK's workforce and add £5bn to GDP. Thank you to the dozens of local and national organisations who took part in roundtables and shared their views on creating a more integrated, person-centred system.

The health and social care sector continues to grapple with significant challenges, including high vacancy rates, limited career progression and lack of standardised training. Despite 1.5 million people working in the sector, 30% of employees have left in the past year, highlighting the urgent need for solutions. Drawing on decades of experience, we’ve been partnering with more than 190 local and national employers in the sector to reduce the burden of recruitment. From national businesses like Cera Care to local employers like Personalised Care, our dedicated teams are on hand to support, no matter the size or need of the business. Find out how we've been supporting the sector in our latest article: https://lnkd.in/eU5fK22y #Employability #Care #Healthcare

We're proud to deliver the Local London Work and Health Programme across North East and South East London. Working with our delivery partners and local employers we've now supported more than 20,000 Local London residents.
The Local London Work and Health Programme, funded through Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), has supported over 20,000 people across our nine boroughs, including many who were a long way from the job market to get more work ready and find sustainable jobs they enjoy. Through the programme, Maximus UK provide tailored employability support, skills training, as well as health and well-being support to enable people to progress on their journeys back into employment, or into work for the first time. As we continue to expand our health and wellbeing services across the UK, we recognise the crucial role community health provision plays in reducing health inequalities. Over the last 3 years we’ve been helping adults and families in Bristol to live healthier and happier lives. To gain further insight into our role in supporting the community, we conducted a study using asset-based community development and insight gathering methods. Our study found that programme effectiveness increases by working closely with communities to ensure long-lasting and sustainable change, and not focusing solely on weight.
