Today, we’ve launched our new #JustDont campaign, asking men and boys across West Yorkshire to help us put an end to everyday harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards women and girls. The North’s creative industries are brimming with ingenuity, diversity, and attitude - with the potential to add tens of billions to our economy.   But for too long, we’ve missed out on the same level of opportunities and investment seen in the South East.   Today, I spoke at The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) Creative Corridor Launch about how we will unleash the full potential of our world class creative sector. Ensuring that even more Northern talent can thrive in a stronger, brighter region.  

Earlier this week, I visited Sustainable Ventures – Europe’s largest cluster of net zero and sustainability start-ups.   By bringing like-minded businesses together through workspaces, investment and support services, the organisation are helping to foster innovation and collaboration.   It was great to discuss what this could look like as they expand into the North of England and take away learnings for a greener West Yorkshire. #Sustainability #GreenBusiness #NetZero

A thriving creative industry has a major impact on other local businesses - helping boost our regional economy.   Whether it’s the film & TV industry, music, or gaming… there are so many people involved throughout the whole process, from equipment needs to logistical support   Yesterday, I visited Chamber International who play a vital role in supporting our creative businesses and freelancers to import and export equipment.

Local government is the beating heart of our democracy.   That's why I'm at #LGAConf24 with jim mcmahon and council leaders from across the country.   We're working together on the future of local government, devolution and how to drive growth throughout our communities.
