⚫️⬛️ MAYDAY. THANK YOUS. (in no particular order) This time last year we had the daft idea to do something big, involving loads of other breweries to help raise awareness of Men’s Mental Health......and Mayday was born, it didn't have a name, but the idea was out there. So many people have helped in making this happen, none more so than Simon Whittington - head brewer here at McColl's, he loves being organised and needs no excuse to travel the land visiting top class breweries. Si has constantly kept the project on track, written essay like logistical emails and brewed some canny beers too 👍 Si also pitched the idea to Dave Kerr at BarthHaas UK X who immediately wanted to be involved. The extent of their involvement was pivotal in not only getting the project off the ground but also making it such a success. We are very very grateful for the sponsorship & massive donation of exceptional hop products for all the beers. What can we say, thanks guys 🙏 Then, when the proverbial hit the fan with a massive third party logistical nightmare, step up Catherine Webber and Attic Brew Co. - without Catherine's cool head and ninja skills a lot of venues may not have received their beer in time. We owe you a few pints 🍻 Then, step up Brew York - they proposed the idea of a soft launch at their Birthday Bash, creating an entire bar just for the Mayday project, with 100% of all profits going to the charities involved. You guys are the best, love the positivity. Again, we owe you a pint or two 🍻 Also, thank you Rooster's Brewing Co. Moor Beer Company Anspach & Hobday and ABBEYDALE BREWERY LTD for putting up with so many requests yet knocking it totally out the park 🍻 A special shout out also goes to The Nag's Head in Reading who went above and beyond, adding more beers to the line up, all donating more money to the charities involved ❤️ And finally, Men's PieClub + MANUP? + The Grieving Pint - you guys are who make the really difference, doing the hard work day in day out, thank you 🧠 We will update you all very soon on the grand total raised so watch out. Plus, we are already planning next year's Mayday, it's gonna be bigger and better. Watch this space.

Thank you to every single person who took part in the Mayday launch yesterday, it's obviously ongoing, but to see such a widespread and wholesome start was very humbling. To everyone who ventured out to one of the 25 venues, to the venues themselves for supporting us, to the bottle shops that stocked the 6 packs, to all those who have bought online, to those who have given us lovely words of support and to all those posts, likes and shares.....A MASSIVE THANK YOU & CHEERS! If one person is helped, if the three charities can continue their great work, if conversations are started and stigmas reduced then we consider it a success, although we won't stop there.

⚫️⬛️ MAYDAY. 26.04.24.A national collaboration to raise awareness of Men’s Mental Health and much need funds for three great causes who passionately and practically tactical the issue day in day out. Please check them out, or tell a mate about them, or donate if you can, they are so effective at what they do......... 🥧 Men's Pie Club from Newcastle effectively combat social isolation and a lack of belonging in men, and the associated mental health issues. They do this in a brilliantly simple way by providing a time and a space (and all the equipment) to make pies, maybe have a cuppa and a natter. Simple. 🗣 MANUP? from Ipswich are on a mission to challenge the adapted term 'Man up' - don't just brush yourself down and get on with it! And beyond that they aim to abolish the stigma surrounding men's mental health and have a great number of resources to achieve this. 🍻 The Grieving Pint from Bristol provide regular and accessible sessions for young men to speak about their mental health, over a pint, actively promoting collective and responsible drinking. The Mayday project launches on Friday 26th April at 25 venues across the country with 15p from every pint and can being donated to the causes mentioned above.
