We are the Research & Innovation Team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. We deliver research for our communities.
About us
The Research and Innovation Department is Medway NHS Foundation Trust’s dedicated research department. The department assists staff to undertake medical research, devise new equipment, techniques or systems of care that improve patient care and their experience within the hospital. This is linked with the trust strategy of ‘Patient First’ to help improve the care and services provided to the people of Medway and Swale. This new improvement system means focus on fewer, more targeted priorities that can have a big impact quickly. Click here for more information about Patient First. The Research and Innovation department is comprised of several teams who actively support research and innovation projects in different ways. Congratulations go to Dr Jennifer Teke, Head of Research and Innovation here at Medway, on her appointment as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at Canterbury Christ Church University for three years. Jenny (pictured second left) said: "My appointment at the University will lead to a more collaborative working relationship with our academic colleagues and will help foster effective implementation of research outcomes in real-world settings." Jenny is also one of three finalists in the People Award category for our Medway Annual Star Awards which take place next month. Our final nurse to celebrate as part of #InternationalNursesDay2024 is Laura Adams. Laura works on research studies in the department as a Research Nurse as well as being our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Facilitator. Laura is currently working on a project with Medway Community Healthcare Research Team to improve access to research in #Medway for those of Black Ethnicities.
