🥳 Yesterday was the finals of the Apex Legends Global Series, Split 2 Playoffs. 🎉 For those that don't know, that's the Apex Legends equivalent of the World Cup. Teams from around the world compete for a chance to win the ultimate prize. 🏆 Thanks to Electronic Arts (EA) , Melanin Gamers were able to take some of our wonderful creators all the way to Mannheim, Germany 🇩🇪 , to not only watch the games live but to take part in so many events. These opportunities would otherwise have been inaccessible for some creators for a multitude of reasons, and we are so grateful that EA is continually leading the way when it comes to ensuring that creators of all sizes from different backgrounds are included in their opportunities. 🙌🏾 #ALGS #inclusion #esports #diversity #apexlegends #gaming

I just came across some incredible news. 😲 A Nigerian gamer by the name of Oside Oluwole has broken the world record for playing a football game [EA FC] for over three days straight. But Oside isn't just a gamer; he is also a qualified biochemist. Due to a lack of job opportunities, he is currently working at a car dealership. The reason why he was going for the world record was an inspiring one; he was raising money for a local hospital! He is clearly the epitome of a Good Samaritan. His story highlights not only the changing perception of gaming in Africa but also serves as a powerful reminder of how gaming can impact lives. Oside's situation underscores the importance of developing industries like gaming, especially when skilled individuals, such as himself, struggle to find opportunities to utilise their expertise. The importance of championing careers in the gaming industry for the youth. Yesterday, Alan Ashalley-Anthony and I were invited to the Royal Greenwich Trust School - Careers Day. It never ceases to amaze me that with how big the gaming industry is, there is still so much that people, especially the youth, don't know about what it means to work in the industry. Since one of our team members used to work at the school, we had a lot of people come up to us and inquire about what we did. As we got to speaking, they all took turns to tell us what they were passionate about: music, illustrating, writing and coding. But none of them had considered gaming as an industry that they could be a part of simply because this idea had never occurred to them, and, more importantly, they had never been exposed to the plethora of jobs available in the gaming industry.  One particular student was blown away by the idea that she could make music for gaming. Marrying her passion for gaming and music was not something that she thought feasible until then. Now more than ever, it is important that we all continue to spread awareness and educate the youth about the gaming industry. This not only allows them to pursue fulfilling and sustainable livelihoods but also contributes to an innovative and inclusive society. The power of networking! 😎 Last month, Alan Ashalley-Anthony and I went to the Black Tech Day (BTD) event hosted by Midas Whittaker (Mr Midas) at the RedBull Gaming Sphere in London. We met Dexter Simms, the Founder of Black Tech Day, and we talked and realised how many of our interests aligned. Now, I am proud to announce that Alan and I will be speaking at the upcoming BTD Event at the brand-new Merky FC Adidas Headquarters. Alan Ashalley-Anthony and I attended the Esports Insider London event; it was unexpected. I had the chance to meet some familiar faces, and it was surprising how some of our recent projects align. Making new connections is always great, but it's just as important to maintain previously established connections at events like this. It's very important that as we pursue our careers and ambitions, we never forget our inner child and the joy of having fun. I believe your inner child is crucial for maintaining emotional well-being, nurturing creativity, and enhancing overall health. More often than not the preassures and responsibilities that we place on selfs and that life places on us can often overshadow the simple joys and imaginative freedom we experienced as children. Reconnecting with your inner child involves rediscovering the wonder, playfulness, and spontaneity of your younger years. Here we go again, the backlash Assassin's Creed Shadows is facing is what happens when we don't curtail the toxicity within gaming.
