Have a read of this fundraiser that my son's (Regan's) best friend Callum Day completed on Saturday, a skydive for my charity METUPUK supporting #metastaticbreastcancer patient advocates, volunteers and patients. Grateful to Callum for his support and he's already raised around £250 from his Junior school, family and friends and we want to also share this so that anyone can donate. Please share this He did it!!! Thank you for your support! There are photos on the METUPUK facebook page for people to see of the skydive and some videos. https://buff.ly/3XlX5V4
MET UP UK
Non-profit Organizations
An activist and patient advocacy group. Working towards making Metastatic Breast Cancer a chronic illness.
About us
METUPUK is the ONLY patient advocacy group in the UK. We are here to push and promote issues with secondary/metastatic breast cancer. Our OBJECTIVES and STRATEGY focus on KEY areas that need to change. Charities and healthcare professionals are starting to listen to us. They are helping to implement changes in many of the areas we have highlighted. This is great, but there is still so much more to do. Our main concern is the fact that those diagnosed have a 2-3 year median life expectancy. An unacceptable outcome. We believe we can turn this into a chronic disease. The patient voice is at the core of everything we do – we ARE the patients who are #BusyLivingWithMets (see our campaign) We are volunteers who are paid no salary or renumeration for the work we do. We strive to make change and this is happening. Please support us in achieving our aims and objectives. Help to keep us enjoying life and #BusyLivingWithMets

Secondaries On The 2nd. We want you to know about the signs and symptoms of Metastatic Breast Cancer so we are sharing our infographics that highlight what you should be aware of if you have had a primary breast cancer diagnosis. These infographics are signposted by NHS England and used worldwide. They are translated into 11 languages. We know that it can be hard to even think about a recurrence and MBC, but knowledge is power, and if you have any of these symptoms please speak to your medical team. Advocating for yourself is the most important thing you can do for yourself. A cancer drug which received standing ovation from the Global Medical Community is being withheld from NHS breast cancer patients. METUPUK are devastated by NICE decision not to recommend the drug Enhertu (trastuzumab deruxtecan), for routine use on the NHS in England for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in HER2-low patients after chemotherapy. You can read more about this in our blog & how this could be addressed IMMEDIATELY so patients gain access to the drug https://buff.ly/3A8zVK1 #METUPUK #DarkerPink #BusyLivingWithMets #IAmThe31 #waitingroomfeet #BCSM #BreastCancer #BreastCancerCommunity #BreastCancerJourney #BreastCancerNow #BreastCancerSupport #CancerBlog #CancerCommunity #CancerSupport #DyingForACure #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #MetastaticBreastCancerAwareness #MyCancerJourney #SecondaryBreastCancer #SecondarySisters #SelfAdvocacy #Stage4NeedsMore #StageIVNeedsMore #standuptocancer

My Mum died in June 2018 after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2016. Her death certificate stated that she had secondary breast cancer in her liver. This was all I knew about primary and secondary breast cancer. That was until a fateful day on 22 July 2022 when I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer... Another one of our 31 Darker Side of Pink ladies has died. Jo (founder) met Lesley after they both had similar surgeries with their "sternotomy" to remove MBC in the sternum which had metastastized there. They met in London and she attended Jo's abcd retreat before meeting in Manchester after applying to be in one of videos to be one of the Darker Pink ladies for the METUPUK campaign. Ironic that her video was about the lack of data collection for metastatic breast cancer. We need so much better, and yes data is still not collected. Thinking of her family and friends at this time. #costofliving #severitymodifier #METUPUK #DarkerPink #BusyLivingWithMets #IAmThe31 #waitingroomfeet #BCAM #BreastCancer #BreastCancerCommunity #BreastCancerJourney #BreastCancerSupport #DyingForACure #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #MetastaticBreastCancerAwareness #SecondaryBreastCancer #SecondarySisters #Stage4NeedsMore #StageIVNeedsMore

METUPUK has joined the Northern Ireland Coalition (NICCC) and will work collaboratively with partner charities to improve outcomes for cancer patients in Northern Ireland. Ann McBrien, METUPUK’s Northern Ireland Executive Lead, attended the official launch of the Northern Ireland Cancer Charity Coalition (NICCC) at Stormont Parliament Buildings, Belfast on 10 June 2024. As a patient and volunteer based charity, METUPUK provides unique expertise and insight into what it means to live with stage 4 cancer. We advocate for improvements in stage 4/metastatic breast cancer care across the UK across four key areas... Have you got ER-positive HER2-negative metastatic (secondary) breast cancer? METUPUK have been asked by NICE for patient and carer views about a new drug combination they are assessing for use on the NHS. The combination of capivasertib plus fulvestrant is already used in the USA for patients with PIK3CA, AKT or PTEN mutations. Around 50% of people with ER-positive HER2-negative metastatic breast have alterations in one or more of these genes. If approved, we expect further genomic testing of tumours will be made available on the NHS. Please let us know what you think, and we will pass on your comments. The questionnaire should take less than 10 minutes of your time. Many thanks. https://buff.ly/4cltT6n

We are thrilled our METUPUK Northern Ireland Lead Representative Ann McBrien was at the launch of the NI Cancer Charities Coalition at Stormont in Northern Ireland yesterday with 33 other charities. As you can see she was very proud to be there! METUPUK is a volunteer based charity which focuses on: * Red flag Signs & Symptoms of MBC * Drugs Access * Access to Clinical Trials * Data - because we are not counted when alive. All focused on to improve OUTCOMES and survival for people living with #metastaticbreastcancer. If you are from Northern Ireland and have either MBC or primary #breastcancer and want to get involved in this work then please contact Helen.Steele@metupuk.org.uk who is the Volunteer Trustee who can get you on board with supporting our amazing charity. We demand change. #costofliving #thecostofliving #severitymodifier #METUPUK #NorthernIreland #DarkerPink #BusyLivingWithMets #IAmThe31 #waitingroomfeet #BCAM #BreastCancer #BreastCancerCommunity #BreastCancerJourney #BreastCancerSupport #DyingForACure #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #MetastaticBreastCancerAwareness #SecondaryBreastCancer #SecondarySisters #Stage4NeedsMore #StageIVNeedsMore
