Last week Metatek attended the 2024 Indonesian Exploration Forum in Surabaya. Jonathan Watson and Henky Suharto of Mahakarya Geo Survey (Metatek's partner in Indonesia) enjoyed 2 days of discussion, presentations and workshops, focusing on the future of Indonesia's exploration. Airborne geophysics, and especially Full Tensor gravity gradiometry, look to be a continued tool of choice, following on from successful surveys in 2021-22. #Surabaya #eFTG #FTG #airborne #geophysics #exploration #Indonesia

Metatek are pleased to have contributed to the latest edition of a very well respected publication. Thanks to Henk Kombrink and all at GEO EXPRO for their help. The Metatek team and our latest airborne exploration tools provide the highest resolution airborne data available, for the petroleum, mining and new energies markets. #metatek #geoexpro #eFTG #gravitygradiometry #airbornegeophysics
GEO EXPRO Issue No. 5 of this year is out! Just in time for the AOW Conference in Cape Town next week. Click here to download the magazine: ➡️https://lnkd.in/eF5kDnGJ Here is a brief overview of all the content we're highlighting: ➡️ The cover story highlights challenges in Namibia’s deep-water oil exploration, especially in the Orange Basin where there are concerns around reservoir quality (chlorite cementation) and high gas content. We look into it… whilst Marcos Asensio contributes to with another great illustration. ➡️ Jan de Jager reflects on the evolution of exploration geology since he joined industry in 1979. Initially dependent on qualitative methods and "gurus”, the field has transitioned to a more quantitative, data-driven approach. But is it any better? ➡️ In regions where well and seismic data are scarce, such as is the case for large areas in Africa, one of the best ways to do a quick initial mapping exercise is airborne geophysics – writes Jonathan Watson from Metatek ➡️ From outdated to new memes: How recent discoveries in Namibia's Orange Basin are shaping exploration strategies for Brazil's Pelotas Basin – explain Neil Hodgson, Karyna Rodriguez and Lauren Found from Searcher. ➡️Stay updated with articles from our regular contributors: Raffik Lazar, Molly Turko, PhD, Ian Cross, David Rajmon, Mariel Reitsma, Peter Elliott and Rodney Garrard. They share, again, great insights, illustrations and commentary that make the magazine! ➡️ “Never say no.” In our portrait article, we introduce Aluka Osakwe, who represents the next generation of oil and gas entrepreneurs. She is not afraid of speaking up for the industry. ➡️ A comprehensive overview of recent discoveries and their impact on Côte d’Ivoire exploration landscape is given by Madhurima Bhattacharya, Misha Isakov, paolo gabrielli, Carl Watkins and Daniel Carruthers from Viridien. ➡️ With input of Ayla Hernández, SWM, we highlight how the presence of a Pleistocene gravel plain drives Munich’s shallow geothermal projects. ➡️ Ronny Setså summarises the debate on opening Norway's continental shelf for mineral exploration and highlights the tension between economic development and environmental protection. ➡️ Is 1% error margin acceptable? Anwar Sutan from i-Vigilant developed technology to make sure that the reported gas composition exported from a production platform matches exactly what came out of the wells. And that's not all! Our returning sections contain news and relevant background stories on a wide range of subsurface energy topics from all over the world. Last but not least, thanks to our advertisers: NVentures Ltd, Metatek, Viridien, Envoi Limited, Geoteric, Searcher and TGS. Subsurface data is vital for resource exploration, especially in Africa. Advanced tools like Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry (FTG) enable efficient, detailed mapping. Recent surveys, like in Angola’s Kwanza Basin, provide crucial data for exploration, planning, and attracting investment in underexplored areas. Today, “Subsurface exploration by plane” - an article written by Jonathan Watson from Metatek. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e84wKd6B
